Not the easiest draw for Mimi and if she gets through this round she would probably play the 6th seed Antonia Ruzic in R2.

Sonay is 2nd on Centre after a 9am start so probably around 10.30. Mimi plays on Tuesday.

Oh wow. Thought there might be a couple of sticky moments after a long break but not at all!

Sonay has been training hard - I'm not surprised that she has hit the ground running.

I'm suprised, she is playing here.
A one off tournament, no ranking movement of significance.

To be honest, I had been thinking it was maybe quite well thought out - have an early good hard training block, then come out and play, see how that goes, do some more work, then off to Oz.

And if she was to win the tournament, a not insignificant net 124 points added to take her up to 1061 points and potentially up 13 places to WR 56.

Plus points stay for 12 months - they would possibly come in very handy later in the season year.

Sonay is also not a great fan of traveling - never has been, not sure if it's the actual traveling or the being away from home, although she's getting better at it (out of necessity)

So I think the nearby events have a definite appeal.

Yes indeed and with two 1 point counters in her current ranking, any wins will immediately give a positive return.
