I think there are 8 wildcards to be handed out. Realistically, I think the only 3 Brits who have a chance of making an impact are Naomi, Jade and Yasmin. They definately have to get wildcards, along with maybe Deborah Armstrong, Michaela Ince and Julia Bone. Not sure who I'd give the other 2 wcs to.

Doesn't Naomi have a wildcard for the main event? Can she compete in both? If so then she definitely deserves a wildcard for the Juniors as well.

I think that she can compete in both. At the French Open, a few of the girls (off the top of my head, I think Alize Cornet and Yulia Fedossova) had wildcards into the main draw and then played the junior event.

The way they have been playing, if I could I'd put $20 on a British girl winning.  I am so impressed by the way Naomi and Yasmin have been playing, with Jade in the ball park too you have to think that there is a good chance of having a Brit Junior Champ.  Wouldn't that be great?

Naomi won 6-4 6-3

Jade Curtis is next on court 19, hopefully she will take inspiration from this win and the young Brits can build some momentum.

Don't forget Julie Bone whose opponant was the 14th Seed and retired in the second set after losing the first 7-5.  I am not sure how hindered the other girl was, but still Julie is in the hat.  She next plays an unseeded Italian by the name of Corinna Dentoni.

Dentoni ranked in the top 20 of juniors (i think), shes won a grade 1 tournament on clay. its going to be tough for bone, who i have never heard of it unfortunately!
