British Tennis Forum December 2025 Player of the Month Award - Nominations thread

The last PoM process of 2025 is now started. Weeks 48-52, meaning we close on Sunday 28th December.

December is a strange month in relative terms. Maybe the bar for entry shifts a little - that is down to nominators to decide initially. My only guidance is that, as always, nominate who you wish and for any reason you wish and do it within the context if the December month we are looking at. Theres no Wimbledon to win in December, so a player doesnt need to win Wimbledon to be nominated. They can only win what in front of them.

Usual process - add your nomination to the list below with a reason and off we go - anyone can nominate, you just need be a board member and to put in the little bit of effort to do it!

Nominations List:

1.

2.

3.

etc.

If British interest is out sooner than 28th December, and it is a strange month for tennis, then I may decide to close this thread a day or two sooner - but it wont be before Xmas!

I wanted to say that every season, I end up having doubts about whether I will carry on with doing the PoM and PoS process the following year. This season, I was reaching the point about the end of last month. Voting numbers have fallen a little since last year and around season end I tend to start getting tired!!

But the engagement from some folks with the November voting, the supporting reasons for why they voted and the uptick in voting numbers again, reignited my interest! The early engagement in the wildcards has added to that.

So, no throwing toys out of prams and taking a prima donna style stance this year, I am really looking forward to this December vote and to the Player of the season vote as well, and onwards to 2026!!

Just popping this back up - some good wins coming through for our women this week, particularly some of the younger ones.

DF will no doubt update later on Friday Feeling, as we approach the end of week 1 of the final 4 of 2025

The back end of week one, Friday Feeling is out for the week and a womens only group is left for what must be the first time this season? Ever?

britishtennis.activeboard.com/t66034135/who-has-that-friday-feeling/

And not forgetting Hollie Smart in Florida J300 and other juniors in Loughborough.

Anyone catch your eye, get them on the list - I suspect this months list will be a lot shorter than normal and the bar for nominations may be slightly lower, and thats not a bad thing!

I know folks are waiting for the end of the tournaments, but Mika and Mimi both into big semis at W100 and W50 level and Alicia also doing well at QF stage in W35.

Hollie in quarters of the big J300 in Florida.

Good to see - and looking to see where this thread goes over the weekend!

Mimi and Alicia out, that is a shame - just Mika flying the women's singles flag. No one flying the mens anything flag!!

Mika is still in the doubles as well, so two semi-finals and gained 39 points for each.

so. Edie is the benchmark for December. I dont anticipate many nominations as there isnt much action. If you think a player gets pretty close to or beats Edies week this week, can I suggest you think about nominating them? If you think Mika, Mimi, Alicia, Hollie got close or was stronger or anyone gets close in the next three weeks- think about nominating them.

I tend to nominate most people here but have decided to make this a quiet month in my nominating activity. I may nominate again, but most likely wont. So I just wanted to sew that seed with the rest of the board and ask that you dont leave it to me, as me is having a little quiet time for the December PoM. I dont really know the womens or juniors games, so it just suits me to sit quietly on the side.

Ill leave it with others as the month unfolds and watch quietly from the side!
