British Tennis Forum Player of the Month Vote - October 2025

October poll - 16 players this month and a very interesting and close vote in prospect.
Remember, you can vote for anyone and for any reason. We only ask, when you vote, please do say and tell us why. It isnt obligatory, it just helps maintain the interest in the vote!

The voting will close automatically TUESDAY NIGHT 4TH NOVEMBER AROUND 10PM - timer will be set and close time confirmed 24 hours out.

Here is the list of nominees:

1. Rhys Lawlor (2009) - winning the singles title at the J100 in Greece. He's our #2 best player for the age (after Ceban) and this is his first title in 2025, and his best win ever; followed up by qualifying for and winning a round at the M25 in Sheffield leading to him entering the ATP list at 1809, also getting a doubles win in the same event. Great stuff for a 16 year old

2. Mark Ceban (2009) - winning the singles AND the doubles title at the J200 in Spain. This equals his best wins ever, and will give him a big booster in ITF points, followed up with a doubles final appearance at the J200 in Norway

3. Mika Stojsavljevic - the 16 yo, in week 40 reached a Tunisia W35 singles final plus won the doubles title. Then in week 42 won the Birmingham W35 singles title, with some fight backs before 6-4 6-0 in the final, beating 4 seeds on the way, WRs 366, 356 (Mimi), 289 (Marni) and 376. Then in week 43 reached the Wrexham W100 singles final, this time losing out to Mimi, having beaten 2 top 300 players, including Marni again, on the way. Then in week 44, having risen over 400 places this month to an end of month CH 348, GB #12, and world U17 #2, actually level on points with the #1, Julieta Pareja, she took a very well eaned rest.

4. Gordon Reid - won his biggest singles title in 7 years, at the series 1 tournament in Mallorca at the Rafa Nadal Academy, beating Gustavo Fernandez in the final. His previous title this year was at Series 2 level and his last Series 1 title was the Korean Open in 2018. Finished the month as RU in the Paris Masters Series 1 event, beating Gustavo Fernandez once more

5. April Sackflame - age 13.5 (born 2012), winning the J60 singles title a Loughborough, in her first ITF event. A graceful player, with a lot of natural skills, and one to watch; followed by being runner up in the TE under 14 Yellow Bowl in Gran Canaria, seeded 7.

6. Brooke Black - winning the W35 doubles title in Week 41 in Darwin (her first professional title) at the age of 17. She also reached the final in Week 40. Her month in Australia has boosted her doubles ranking from 821 to 557 and her singles from 831 to 708.

7. Ryan Peniston - winning one of the series of challenger events in the Greek islands, his first challenger title in 2 years, beating the top seed in the final and entering the top 200 again as a result. Welcome back, Ryan

8. Jan Choinski - wins his second 125 title in just a few weeks, second of his career, in Valencia, rising very close to his career high ranking and up to GB number 5 in the process

9. Harry Wendelken - wins his first Challenger level title as a lucky loser at the Hersonissos Challenger in Greece. The victory catapulted Harry up 105 places in the ATP rankings to a new career-high world No.341. Added to it with the M25 title in Glasgow for an excellent month, and this second title will see him take out the CH above and into the 330s.

10. Lui Maxted - unseeded, wins the Tunisia M25 title, beating 3 seeds along the way including (5) WR 462 in the final. In the same week was RU in the doubles, having won the doubles title the previous week ( both with Connor Thomson ). Takes his CHs at 29/09 of singies 806 and doubles 600 to WR 609 and 444 respectively for 03/11.

11. Victoria Allen - seeded 7th, won the Quebec City, Canada W35 without dropping a set, beating the 5th seed in the final. Moving on in Canada, in the Saguenay W75 she lost in R2 but only just missed out on a CH win against the 3rd seeded WR 247 ( had a total of 4 MPs in a final set TB ), and then in the Toronto W75 as a qualifier she beat WR 274 in reaching the QF. Taken all together in the month, she thrashed her CH 613 in moving up to WR 433.

12. Mimi Xu - Unseeded, won the W100 Wrexham tournament, beating the number 3 and 6 seeds on the way. In the same tournament lifts the doubles championship with Ella McDonald. Prior to this was runner up in the w35 Birmingham tournament and lifted the doubles title once again with Ella. Now breaking into the top 300 (NCH) in singles and doubles, she is settling in very well to her senior pro career. The combination of singles and doubles success in one tournament is commendable and confirms her physical strength as well as her adaptable and varied game. In WTA rankings stands around 11 in the under 19s and 4 in the doubles. Well done Mimi.

13.Cam Norrie- The 3rd time Ive nominated Cam in recent months. This time his win against Rublev was great , now surpassed by the best win of his career against world number 1 Alcaraz . Supplemented by a win over Baez. Went out to the red hot Vacherot, no disgrace in that . Now back at #27 in the live rankings having started the year at 50. Solid performances in the big events but the Alcaraz win was special.

14. Emily Webley-Smith - for reaching her first WTA doubles final at the age of 41 in Jiujiang, proving that it's never too late to be successful in tennis - you just need to persevere.

15. Henry Patten - with a little help from his friend, Harri H, winning his first ever Masters 1000 title in Paris. H and H go back to 2nd in the Race and equal 4th in the latest live rankings. After a mid season lull, they seem to have bounced back with a vengeance!

16. Harriet Dart - for winning the W75 in Toronto - best win of her career and follows a difficult six months. The points get her back inside the top 200 and in line for the qualifying draw at the AO

Forgive me if the font appears big, it does weird things on cut and paste from my phone!

So many great results this month - if I could Id shout out to them all, but that would be silly.

For me, Victoria, Mimi and Lui stood out as genuinely being candidates for PoM. But surpassed by 3 players who caught my attention above the others:

Mika
Cam
Harry

Mika had a marvellous month and I am sure will get plenty of votes from others. Cam beating both Rublev and Alcaraz in one month, beating a world number one, is hard to surpass. He may not have won events but can you do better?

Harry won his first ever Challenger title - great in itself- but as a lucky loser, and then to come back from the sun of the Greek islands and to the confines of a Glasgow indoor court and take a follow up M25 title, that is truly impressive.

Id like to vote Mika and expect others to do so.

Id like to vote Cam and really hope others do so

But Im voting Harry and hope Im not alone!

Yes, a very good month for quite a number of players, with Jon giving mention to the main ones I was considering. Ultimately Mika for me. What a statement month by the youngster!

Many good performances this month, so I'm trying to look at who has produced over more than one week rather than the very good one week performances

Mika, Mimi, and Vic all had a great month and I'd vote for al of them if it were possible. But I think that Mika's results give her the edge over Mimi.

Thanks TA! Not Harry then, using those criteria?! Only player who won two singles titles in different weeks in the month!

He should have been top of your list biggrin

On a serious note, 7 votes in so far, 6 different players with those votes. It is looking as if it will be a widespread one this month!

Mr Norrie. Losing straight after was a disappointment, but beating the world number one counts for something.

Two things I forgot to mention above:

- if there is a tie, we will have a vote off for top place (not for lower down positions), no ties this season for PoM! It will run from Wednesday night to Thursday night so keep an eye out, my view is this one could be a close vote!

- the top 2 (plus ties) qualify for Player of the Season, so keep that in mind also. Most of this months field, bar one, are NOT into the PoS field yet, so opportunity abounds!!

Oof, a very difficult choice this month. I've gone for Mika for a combination of consistency across the month (and during tournaments) while also lifting her level of achievement.

Yes, I know that applies to lots of other players, too (Mimi, Harry, Vic especially) but it felt like Mika was the biggest/most excitiing step.

of the 12 votes so far, they have gone to 8 players - certainly a wide open one this month!

Plenty of deserving nominees!
Great month for Mimi. Lovely end to the month for Harriet. Fab win for Cam over CA.
But my vote goes to Mika!
