Further decent points ( 9 at least by reaching R2 ) for either Vic or Esther. On balance I'd say I'm at least not unhappy to see them drawing each other.

When talking about being not that unhappy about Vic playing Esther in singles R1 I hadn't appreciated they were playing doubles together ( I mean the info was one full post up ). So I guess it may at least be awkward.

I have noticed it happening quite often. I often wonder if it might be deliberate i.e. players who are going to meet in R1 or R2 decide to pair up for doubles.

I think that doubles draws are normally made before singles main draw.
Certainly the doubles draws are often available on the ITF website before the singles, but not always especially for the lower level tournaments.
The WTA on the other hand appear to draw the doubles later - often a day or two later judging by when they post the draws.
