Here we go with the belated September 2025 Player of the Month Vote
The vote will close on sunday lunchtime (or brunch if you prefer) at 12.14PM
In case of a tie for top spot, a tie break vote will then run from later on Sunday for a further 24 hours
We have the following players nominated - please vote for the one you think should be PoM for September and, please, when you vote tell us what you have voted and tell us why- it makes it so much more interesting for everyone else!
Here are the nominations:
1. Cam Norrie - 4th round Roland Garros, quarter final Wimbledon and now 3rd round New York, again the last British man standing. Match of the tournament just now against Comesana, before taking Novak to 4 sets in round 3. Ive nominated Cam 3 times after each of those slams. Hopefully he gets more votes this time !
2. Hamish Stewart - 2 weeks in a row qualifying for and reaching R2 of ATP Challenger 75s ( Manacor and Cassis ), in the first beating the top seed Otto Virtanen WR 123 in straight sets for a best ever rankings scalp. Takes out his CH 442, being now live ranked 413.
3. Ruben Harris - won the US Open junior wheelchair doubles title with his Austrian partner, Max Taucher, for our only piece of silverware in the wheelchair tennis in New York. The junior events are only held here and in Paris, so a rare chance to win a big title. Ruben is playing senior events now and looks to be one to watch for the future.
4. Max Basing - for doing the double - winning singles and doubles titles at the M25 in Bali after winning the M15 singles in Thailand the previous week, cumulatively taking him up to about WR 450. Added a third title in 3 weeks in singles with another M25 win in Bali, stretching his unbeaten run to 14 matches. A very profitable run of events for Max and I see from the schedules he plans to play the Aussie ITF stretch next as he continues to progress.
5. Joe Salisbury/Neal Skupski - for reaching their second grand slam doubles final of the year and coming so close to glory at the US Open. Great start to their pairing and cemented by qualifying for the Tour Finals as the September month ends.
6. Billy Harris - it may not have been the hardest set of opponents and it may have been a CH 75, but Billy had never won a title at Challenger level until now. In fact, he was the highest ranked player without a challenger title. But not anymore - Billy wins the Cassis Challenger, his first at this level and his ranking back to around 136 as a result. Nice one, Billy!
7. Francesca Jones - WTA 250 Sao Paolo SF should take her to a big new CH 73 ( up to GB #2 ) and to #60 for points won this year so far.
8. Katie Swan - for winning the W35 in Wagga Wagga. This may not be the level of tennis any of us think she is capable of, but the fact she has played and won 5 successive matches and is seemingly fit and healthy is cause for celebration. Followed up by reaching the final the following week, winning 9 matches over the fortnight.
9. Alicia Dudeney - winning two consecutive W15 singles in Monastir, and also reaching the doubles finals in both weeks, winning the second one. A significant boost to Alicia's ranking, taking her from WR692 to around WR565 and from 52 points to 82 points. And she's entered for the W35's in the next two weeks.
10. Lucy Shuker - Lucy has won plenty of series 3 events but at the Birmingham Classic in Toronto she faced the added pressure of playing fellow Brit and challenge for British top spot, Cornelia Oosthuzen. In a real battle, Lucy won in 3 long sets and , with it, probably secures top British womens player spot for the season.
11. Jack Pinnington-Jones - won his second Challenger title this season, at the Challenger 75 in Winston-Salem. Managed it without losing a set and losing just 30 games in 10 sets; impressive display and will reach a new career high of 177 in the process
12. Jan Choinski - in a month where a few have won challengers, Jan takes the biggest of them with a CH125 in Austria; his biggest ever title, beating the world 102 in the final for his highest ranking win this year. Excellent week for Jan and maybe the best British title of the month?
13. Savannah Dada-Mascoll - her breakthrough tournament. An Appalachian State senior, she is ranked #106 in the college rankings and caused the upset of the week in the ITA All-Americans Championships by knocking out the #1 ranked player as well as defeating the #51, #27, #13 and #48 ranked players. She defied all odds and won her half of the consolation draw to book a place in the NCAA championships.
14. Sonay Kartal- its v. tough to reach the QF in a WTA 1000 and 3 big wins for Sonay and then a massive win have got her there at Beijing for the loss of only one set, including impressive wins over Parks, Kasatkina, Joint and , most impressive of all, was the beating of Andreeva, 4th seed and world number 5, 7-5 final set.
15. Henry Patten - after a hard season, he and Harri H win their first title in 9 months and their second this season at the ATP500 in Beijing. First title as a pair at this level as they move to 4th in the Race.
For me, there were so many big efforts this month, big shout outs from myself for Ruben, Billy, Katie, Fran, JPJ, Jan, Savannah, Alicia in particular.
My vote though goes to one of 4 nominees:
Max - winning so many titles in one month, what a month for him, and 14 straight wins as well
Joe and Neal - a second slam final of the season, no one else from GB has achieved that in the main events.
Sonay - what an amazing week or two in Beijing and she also got a win in the BJK Cup as well against Japan, and ran Navarro to 3 sets there against the USA
Henry - came back with a vengeance and claimed his first ever ATP 500 title
I am really struggling with this one but, after a lot of umming and aagghing I have decided to go with Max Basing and his fabulous efforts with 2 singles titles, 1 doubles, following on from a title at the end of the previous month and 14 straight wins. Well done though to all the others, I am sure they will pick up votes from other people over the next two days!
That could have been a pretty tough choice for me this month with to me a number of close contenders.
Just the one tournament from Sonay though sorted that all out and what an inspirational tournament, on top of her less significant BJK Cup performances which I had initially forgotten about.
Undoubtedly Sonay is my PoM.

The bars aren't showing on my phone for the 2 votes recorded so far?
It isn't showing bars to me on phone or laptop, it is showing percentage of votes number though, as well as fact 3 votes are recorded.
But no idea where the bars have gone! Probably got fed up waiting for a poll to take place
Actually, I also noticed that there used to be a feature until recently where if you hovered over someones name when they are logged in, you can see which section they are reading in, that seems to have also stopped now as well?
Thanks Sheddie, suspect Sonay will get a lot of support with her late run this month - almost didn't make it and there was part of me thinking I would kick it over to October to include her! haha
I thought I should spread the love around a bit so I have gone for Alicia. They may only be W15 tournaments but you cannot do more than win both singles and almost both doubles.

Yea, I had Alicia very similar in terms of achievement to Max, who I voted for. Both did v well.
