Hello to you

I take it you mean total singles quarter finalists. 17 men + 4 women?

Hope you can come up with such a total in other weeks with a few more from the ladies.

DF going to be busy with her "Friday feeling" thread ( these still around on a Friday ) with quite a few doublers still around too.

yes indy, total singles quarter finals

as you mentioned the disparity between men and women I decided to do a little digging and I rather wish I hadn't

The men are averaging just over 10 Qtr finals per week this year. This weeks 17 isn't even the best this year. The women on the other hand have only had 99 in the first 36 weeks this year. This weeks 4 equals the best in any week other than those with a British W35. Sad but true.

The men are going to have the best year ever in any metric I keep except for total points - Andy Murray's 12K+ in 2016 is hard to overcome !!!

As to why the disparity, your guess is as good as mine. Maybe Andy Murray prompted more boys to take up a racquet, so maybe Emma has a similar effect on girls - the number of new faces getting rankings this year is encouraging. We can but hope.

Anyway, 21 Brit vs Peskie matches tomorrow, as you say DF is going to have a busy day!

hi Jonny, welcome to the board! Thats some stats and tunes with the title count Indy keeps and updates each week. The nominations for our monthly player of the month awards are also trending as largely men, this month so far its 6 men and no women.

which is a shame - although I follow mens tennis much more than womens, a lot of folks on this board follow the women more and it keeps the board more exciting if they do well.

maybe the women will just go and win the BJK Cup next week!
