Am I mixing players up or is Mrva a rival of Jack D from juniors?

Just to be clear, this is a FQR match (or QR2, whichever people prefer)

Mrva is a current junior, who has been focusing on transition this year after reaching number 2 in the junior rankings.  I reckon the player you are  thinking about is Dalibor Svrcina, another Czech player who had a few tussles with Jack - generally winning.  Svrcina has just broken into the ATP top 100

Jan is due to drop a total of 140 ranking points next Monday ( from last year qualifying for the US Open MD and then winning this Challenger 100 ).

So clearly a possible pretty significant rankings drop in the short term. Be great if he could defend his title to mitigate most of that potential drop

I think he has a tough opener though - Schwarzler was a top junior if I recall (he may have won a junior slam and may have been junior WR1?) and was a name I clocked might go high. His ranking level could be a lot higher in ATP terms than it is , and he is going to be on home courts with support.

Potential banana skin for Jan

I saw Schwarzler lose to Jay Clarke earlier this year and he wasnt great, but there was obvious potential (in a Searle kind of way). I suspect, considering the new career high and recent challenger final, he might be a slightly different pros prospect. But still expect Choinski to win.

And before anyone else mentions, its not Choinskis opener as he won earlier.
