Saw bits of Henrys match.

Some points I thought how is Henry not top 100 already. Other points made me think hmm ok I see it.

Do we think he can make top 100? What are is biggest areas for improvement? I think he could improve his volleying and forecourt play.

I think he has the raw talent. Huge serve and forehand.

Agree with the forecourt game comment. I feel like one of his biggest issues is concentration. Its like he looses focus or interest mid point if it goes on too long.

Yes, I agree with the concentration, merv

I think his volleying and forecourt play is actually pretty good/very good - the only reason it looks a bit dodgy is because he goes there so often biggrin

i.e. For years, Loffers (much as I love him) had an allergic reaction each time he went anywhere near the net - so his volleying didn't look bad - because he never did any !

(Never played doubles either)

Henry likes to be aggressive, likes to try and close the points at the net and of course he misses quite a few

But I agree with the concentration - I think he suffers from the classic youngster thing of playing a blinder in his mind's eye - he sees the shot he wants to make - he can hear the crowd's rapturous applause - he knows he can make it (sometimes) - so he goes for it. Then gets narked and a touch 'humph, who cares?' when he misses it.

He doesn't really calculate his shot choice very well, and does tend to go a bit AWOL, especially when it's not working quite right

But Federer used to do pretty much the same smile

Henry's a very talented teenager, he's just got to learn his craft (as the French would say), learn how to package his talent into winning matches, consistently, and not always in the most glorious way
