I thought Kei was on a bit of a resurgence at the start of the year, making the final of Hong Kong back in early Jan. I watched him beat Jake in a challenger last November, and was impressed at his level as well - was playing top 30 tennis.
Anyway he's tailed off since Feb and this news perhaps explains why. Turns out that Kei has been playing away, and it's all a bit of a scandal in the Japanese press - he's pulled out of Wimbledon.
(Mind you, thanks sheddie - it's sad and a bit sordid (feel sorry for the kids) but given the news we're bombarded with at the moment, a bit of consenting adult light scandal is exactly the level of news I need)
