Week 21 - Grand Slam - Roland Garros, France - Clay

Solid win for Fran, would love to see her in the MD!

Re Daphnée Mpetshi-Perricard great result, the French really need some prospects to look forward to.

It feels like there is a lot of therapising of Harriet Dart going on, and I am not comfortable with some of the personal comments, and in the knowledge that players, coaches and parents visit these boards. These are not the kind of comments I have been used to reading over the years, and I think we need to be careful.

 Yes, but that's good

It's not bad that players realise what people think - and this is not based on gossip - or rumour - or whatever.

It's comments about a publicly recorded incident, and comment without bad language or connotations of violence, heaven forbid, or anything that is most obviously wrong

However, I did bring it back to the tennis with the little story about Daria

And am now watching Fran - and Ksenia - and a couple of others - multi-tasking is very tricky

I was not suggesting that we shouldn't comment on a player's behaviour, but some of today's comments were going beyond that imo. Anyway, maybe Harriet and Birrell can give us some joy in the doubles.

I think some comments may have been deleted. I was watching the match live on TV and have to say I was staggered at the time and had to rewind to listen to the comment she made which was frankly uncalled for at best.

I can't imagine Harriet is having an especially good time in the locker room right now either.

Disappointing from Heather today but she was always likely to struggle against a decent opponent. Maybe the time for hanging up the racket in singles is getting close?

Fran was excellent in the small bits i managed to catch. Looking at her potential draw she has a very decent chance of making the 1st round proper.

As suggested previously, I think that Ms Dart is going to have to put up with a lot more from the other members of the locker room than she does from the members here, and she will find them more difficult to avoid/ ignore.

Id be disappointed if any mods had deleted comments? Surely censoring isnt something we should be having here? Id personally consider being here if that went on? I cant see any comments individuals have deleted as the system wont let you - you just have to delete the text and say deleted or some such.

But we shouldnt have any censoring, unless patently criminal or spam messages. Or am I wrong?

If mods censor things said in polite language, said with thought and reason, because they simply think they might offend someone, then I would leave

So I'll go back and look at the old posts

To be fair, Heather has had some bright results this year.  If she's enjoying it.....she's certainly not hurting anybody and as they say.....you're al long time retired!

Looks like this debate is going to run and run. Hope it finished before the grass court season - or I might walk as well as it is getting tedious.

One or two members have deleted some text from earlieir comments. As Sheddie says, mods have deleted nothing here.

Please folk be careful to try and avoid ambiguities and others also to watch overreacting to possible misunderstandings. It's hot ( well lovely up Aviemore way this week ), folk are maye a bit more jumpy than usual. Calm ...
