The LTA are currently listing 21 players on their entry list, leaving 11 spots for wild cards and qualifiers. Four wild cards is the normal allowance, but if they only award three it leaves open the possibilty of a 16 or 32 player qualifying competition for 8 places, but an 8 player draw does also look a distinct possibility and as CD says is the norm.
Looking at the WTA website for 125s , there do appear to be some 32 draw qualies events - eg Canberra before the AO. So perhaps that will prove the case here as well, hopefully so.
That would be very nice, let's hope so (but don't hold your breath)
However, it's only one part
Look at the acceptance list here - 15 players in the top-100
Last year at Surbiton there were 5, I believe
A W125 event is stronger - and it makes sense, you get more points
It's a 24 qualifying draw I think. There's 22 direct acceptances, 4 WCs leaving 6 qualifiers for a 32 main draw. The event schedule shows there are 2 rounds of women's qualifying, ruling out an 8 player qualifying draw.
It's a poor reflection on WTA/LTA that we don't even have the basic details to draw sizes less than 2 weeks from the start of the tournament.

Thanks, Lambda
As a reminder, in the qualis last year at Surbiton, we had:
So as long as the Birmingham event gives equal opportunities to GB players to make their case, and - as Lambda said before - to score points, then that's just fine
ADD: just for full info, we also had in the MD: (1) Sonay, (2) Fran, (3) Beth Grey, (4) Katy Dunne, (5) Harriet, (6) Lily

Were Katie and Emma eligible to enter here and are they able to take a WC?
Normally they wouldn't but as its during the 2nd week of a Grand Slam, they were able to enter and can take a WC. Only top 10 players are not eligible to play 125s during the 2nd week of a 2 week mandatory event.
So what will probably happen is when they lose in the French Open they'll take up a wild card they could have saved by just entering...
Sorry to spam - if you want to enter our competition to predict which British player will win the most grass court season matches over main draw and qualies, across all grass events, here is the link to enter.
Agreed - love this! Surprised so many of the others still going for foreign partners, which presumably reduces wildcard chances.
Two of the three you refer to are regular partnerships so expected. Jodie doesn't often play doubles, but Olivia Gadecki is a good partner and has partnered Freya and Liv this year, and won a W100 with Sutjiadi this year.
I think that splitting up the partnerships to increase the number of wild cards would be a waste of time as it takes time to create a good pair.
And if Hev and Emily gel they could have quite an impact.
