Interesting match-up for Emily against Sarah (she goes by her second name) who is the only French teenager making any real progress at the moment, and plays a deft, agile game, and has been making SFs and finals in W35s but is still not knocking it out of the park

L32: Varvara Gracheva (FRA) WR 67 vs (8) Sonay Kartal WR 60

L32: (WC) Lois Boisson (FRA) WR 266 vs Harriet Dart WR 108

Surely the first time Sonay is seeded for a WTA and an important match for RG direct entry for Harriet.

Won't this be too late to effect the RG MD list? Slam MD lists are normally based on the rankings from 6 weeks before the MD start, so in this case the 14/04 rankings.

Yes your right my reasoning was there was still 6 weeks left so this is the last week but that was bad reasoning.

In reply to the post about rankings, Harriet and Roland Garros, I have also been looking for info.

Nothing I can see on the internet or the Roland Garros website in terms of entry lists published yet, but I think Indiana is right about the cut off date. I started looking for the entry list last week, as I know from experience that it is about 6 weeks before the tournament that it is released.

The Roland Garros website does though have pictures of players with current rankings, but intriguingly or maybe even worryingly, there is no picture of Sonay or Emma. Nearly all the other top 100 players are listed, with correct current rankings. I think this set of pictures went up on the website today or yesterday. Watch this space... I guess.

I think it is fear not! The list of players is actually last years list of players, showing Harriet in main draw list, Lily in qualies, Dan Evans in mens singles main draw (when clearly he wont be); but the rankings for each player is pulling through the current ranking.

But basically, the actual players list is 12 months out of date.

So, breathe easy

Well that is a relief - I did a quick check and found Katie B ranked 40 and Arantxa Rus ranked 87 on the website, so I assumed it was for this year, as those are the 2 rankings that I know and they were both correct, I think. Arantxa Rus is my favourite overseas player, by the way, in case that sounds a little strange. It must be a co-incidence if both players are ranked exactly the same a year on. I thought the explanation was that they had updated the players but not the year mentioned on the website.

And just to show how wrong you can be, Sarah suddenly starts knocking it out of the park ! biggrinno

She beat a top-150 player and today beat the WR 58

So, well done, Emily App - you had a tought draw and did just fine smile

That's quite a brutal score! Harriet told the umpire, "can you tell her to wear deodorant because she smells really bad?" - that's such a gross comment to make. Disappointed.

I saw some of the second set -I didn't think Harriet was going to turn that round. I also thought the umpire picked the wrong mark on match point.
