Several of the players in this group were really close to my vote - being honest, Liv and Marni didn't capture my imagination, good seasons though they both had.
Katie could have easily got my vote for winning a WTA500 and 250 title, great achievements from her and halved her ranking to the verge of the top 20; Jake's run through the second half of the year was frankly stunning and to get into the top 100, wow.
Jack progressed to real heights, top 15 in the world, also got a ATP500 title and a semi in a Slam.
And Alfie won Wimbledon singles, was imperious in doubles and got a Paralympic Mens doubles gold and singles silver.
Frankly, I cant choose between that lot and so I have to go with what gave me most pleasure and that was probably Alfie winning the Wimbledon title and he gets my vote
When I saw how the groups fell, I was pleased to get 3 men and 3 women in each but this feels like the slightly heavier weight group in terms of rankings, if not in terms of how brilliant the year was - I think both group showcase that well!
Jake Fearnley's progress is too much to ignore. Voted for him.
Jake was a toss up with Alfie for me, I would have voted Jake but had actually seen more of Alfie this season and felt he deserved my vote in a 50 50 call!
I'm going to have to think about this for a while - it is one of three in BOTH semis.
This one is from Messrs Fearnley & Draper and Ms Boulter.
Yes, certainly these 3 stand out for me here.
And much as I really admire what Jake has achieved this year ( great that he finished the year in the top 100 though his starting ranking was based on very limited ranking outings and bore no relation to the ability that was already there ), he comes 3rd for me after the progress and achievements of our two #1s, Jack and Katie.
I will return at a later time with a definitive choice.

This group may have a lot of the heavyweights but there was no debate from me.
Jake!
Have loved watching his progress this year and been impressed by how he's sustained his success. It's one thing to have talent and ability and another to be able to (consistently) deliver on it.
