It struck me that, although I probably wouldn't at the moment have started a thread for either girl individually, as a pair, though, they are pretty special (and may be individually too soon): both young/very young, both WTA ranked, both on the way up.
And - someone will correct me but I can't remember ever having two sisters in the list
So:
Kristina Paskauskas - born 12 June 2004.
WTA 834 in singles.
This year's highlights have been making the final in a W15 and the QFs in a W35 (beating a top-300 player)
Currently in the US at NC State
Gabia Paskauskas - born Jan 2006 -
WTA 1325 in singles
CH 61 in juniors
Also at NC State
I believe that the family is of Lithuanian origin and the girls are very proud of the Lithuanian roots
I knew Gabia had done something "fun" last weekend in California. I didn't know that was an 8 game pro set challenge against Kristina, which can be seen here with some brief background chat with the content creator before and after the set. This is really just a training set, but thought I'd share it should anyone want an introduction to them.
Little did they know when they filmed this that they'd be playing each other for real a week later.
I think the Pitak sisters were probably the last pair to have rankings at the same time.
Perhaps Scarlett and Holly Hutchinson will be next.
Scarlett didn't turn pro after College Tennis but AFAIK she did win some sort of doubles tournament a couple of weeks ago, not sure how serious it was.
