Nice little earner for Mika, $9,820 and good experience too. Not that I expect too much from her or Katie either - Badosa appears to be on top form at the moment.

Her luck is in. Can she tell me the winning lottery numbers?

This is Mika's last WC of her allowance for a 15 year old. In Loughborough she will need to use her merit WC from being a Junior Grand Slam finalist if she doesn't get in to the main draw through withdrawals. She can roll the merit WC over to next year if she doesn't use it.

Badosa retired from her last match so who knows if she will show up or what shape she will be in! And good luck Mika!

Badosa is out. As the highest ranked non-seed, Katie simply moves into her slot at 9th seed, and will be a Q/LL.

And to think until a couple of days ago she was still in qualifying!

And even better, the potential second round opponent will be another Q/LL

The entry seems weak for a 500 level - presumably the fact the tour finals places are set, makes the event less interesting to some of the top players?

Opportunity for players like Katie, though.

I've missed the fact that Mika exists so far, I can see that she won the girl's USO and I guess that's the merit WC that you are talking about. Not sure what a merit WC is though? Also is the junior WC allowance for the year when she is 15 or the WTA year?

Just to note that Mika will be 16 on 15 December, so the allowance changes then.

A merit WC is just an extra WC juniors receive for reaching the final of a junior Grand Slam or the final of the ITF World Junior Tour Finals. The only difference from a normal WC is that instead of it being restricted to any particular yearly allowance, it can be used at any time they remain a junior and are subject to age-related restrictions on wild cards. Wild card allowances for juniors are between their birthdays.

Many thanks. I look forward to following her career!
