Dimitrov and Jamie, I like the sound of that; tough draw though.

Oh marvellous - completely oblivious to the fact he was playing - a post above made me think he had missed out so I was largely ignoring the event !

Brilliant result from Billy.

A question over the points though. As this is an ATP1000, will this count as a 'Mandatory' for Billy or would he have to make the main draw for that ? As his lowest scorer is a 12 at the moment, the 10 points from today - if mandatory - would actually see him lose points despite his victory.

Not sure on the mandatory thing. However I believe todays win was worth 16 points. Qualifying is worth 30 but you also get the 10 for being in round 1.

Yes, super to see Billy getting into qualifying and then winning.

And you need have no fears about him losing points this coming week on two counts:

1) Yes, it is just a mandatory counter if you play in the main draw.

2) Being a 56 player MD, as opposed to 96, a QR1 winner gets 16 points for a QR1 win rather than 10 points.

So, he is 4 ranking points in credit so far. FQR winners get 30 points plus the 10 MD R1 points.

I tried to check on the umber of points but the ATP site didn't have the pdf draws up which is where I normally look.  So i looked back at an ATP1000 from earlier this year where it was 10 for winning QR1 and 20 for winning FQR + the 10 for R1 of the MD

Maybe it's different here.
