Good to see Jake and Paul have got their rankings up to the level where they get direct entry to these and don't have to go through qualifying, and that Liam is still high enough for direct entry too. Good luck to all of them and Jack as well.

And I believe Pauls win will push that career high , higher - he, Jacob and players like Charlie are all pushing each other really well; i hope that helps Liam and Ryan , maybe Jan, all respond, and maybe acts as inspiration for Dan Evans as well.

 For us as fans, maybe

But I honestly don't think it makes any real difference to the players - I don't think it will make any difference to Liam, for instance, what Jake F is doing (and, god help, not to Evo biggrin)

They're more likely to be inspired by what their USA ex-college player friend is doing, or their Spanish winter training partner i.e. someone they know and play with - quite a lot of the interviewers ask the players about their national ranking, for instance, and the players nearly always look a bit confused

However, it's always good when they're doing good smile

I think maybe one of the more tangible benefits of having a bunch of GB players at Challenger level might be competing at the same tournaments with fellow Brits. I think Andy led the way and set a great example of team spirit and encouraging and cheering fellow Brits on.

mmm. I get the point and we have debated this before on here. And I certainly remember Evo dismissed it. And I certainly don't think being ranked GB number 4 or whatever is a motivator. I do think having someone who is a sort of peer/rival though would motivate you to do what they are doing or better, agree that may be other ex college team mates or buddies from the tour, or your ex doubles partner or whatever - but I think also seeing your fellow Brits that you played Challengers with or ITF events with or train at the NTC with , or whatever, must surely have some motivating factor if they do well - if nothing more, trying to match what they do
