Week 31 - ITF W75 - Lexington, Kentucky, USA Hard

QR1:- Emily Webley-Smith (GBR) UNR v Sara Daavettila (USA) WR593 [10]

I believe this is one of Ems favourite tournaments. She was 48 on the alternates list, but has still made it. Eden was on the list at Q18 but isn't in the draw.

Lily is entered, and Eden and Sam are on the doubles list.

Nice to see Em here. She was entered in the doubles with Maddy but they withdrew, so hadn't expected her to travel especially as it's a while since she's left Europe. As you say Addict think this is one of her favourite stops on your.

R1:- Yuriko Lily Miyazaki WR138 [1] v Elizabeth Stevens (USA) UNR [WC]

Stevens is aged 22 and appears to have played college tennis at Kentucky, hence the wildcard

Hopefully Lily can keep the good tradition of British gals during this tournament going.

Sophie is the player that EWS beat in qualifying at Surbiton in 2023. I thought Lily should win with ease.

Close, but never ahead in the MTB. I thought their experience might pull them through (they've won 53 doubles titles over 13 and 20 years)

Were *1-4 down overnight, saved 8 of 9 break points. Looks like a major effort to have made the MTB but Em's record in those is pretty terrible
