Bonetto is a 21-year-old college player, though he's at the University of Florida, not Georgia. He has never had an ATP ranking and the biggest achievement of his senior career so far was making the main draw of an M15 event last year. Hopefully that'll give Billy a relatively easy transition from grass to hard (famous last words!)
Liam has played Shang once before, in Miami Masters qualifying in 2021, when he won 4-6 6-1 7-6(6). Shang was only 16 at the time though, and playing (I think) his first pro match.

I believe hes in because me made the finals of a wild card tournament
Some surprise at Bonettos WC..
*-Paulsell of UGA had a better college ranking for 23/24 with an ITA ranking of 37 vs unranked Bonetto, a WTN of 3.5 vs 4.7 for Bonetto, and a UTR of 13.88. Instead of getting a possible Q WC, Paulsell signed up for a 15k but didnt even get off the alternate list for Qualis. The idiosyncrasies of tennis once again displayedone guy gets a 250Q WC and another higher ranked player of a college in the same state cant even get in 15K Q*
Ah, that probably explains it then. Georgia Tech is actually in Atlanta too, whereas UGA is in Athens GA, though even that's quite close to Atlanta by American standards.

Nice work from Billy. Hopefully easing him into the hard court season as he transitions from grass. Needs to qualify to add points though as he has so many 'non-counters'.
