Its due to rain again tomorrow for much of the late morning and afternoon so the women may get the better deal on this, as it happens

Well, I know we can't control the weather but playing inside kills any hope a couple of our players would otherwise have had :( :( :(

It is a shame for sure. The grass is in super nick but from memory they only cover centre court, or so I understand. The indoor courts are quick at Ilkley though so if any of our girls have a big serve and decent flat ground shots, they may stand a chance of an upset?

I was thinking mainly of players like Allegra and Sally, who are there on the back on good form on grass and aren't our 'normal' players

And Hep who has quite a sneaky game on grass

And Naiktha

And Isa Lacy too, who's shown very good grass pedigree

I'm not sure a quick indoor court is the same for them

However, we've got other players who have obviously been playing on hard courts recently, but - presumably - so have their opponents

Well, our 'other' players are certainly doing brilliantly so far

And, you're right Jon, Ella's opponent - in particular - is having real problems with the speed of the court (which is slightly surprising)

Lovely to see Lauryn back, fit and healthy - fingers crossed she has no more problems and can really make a go of it

Ella took the first set 6-2

and Lauryn won hers, 6-3

Yeah good points - wondered whether they could have done grass today, its been sunny and breezy so far but showers seem to be coming in soon and I think therell be lots of disruption after around noon.

Lauryn and Ella have both started well and are a set up.

And both got broken at the start of the second

But both broke back at about the same moment

Ella is really playing a lot more better than she was last year when it had become so 'pushy' in terms of tennis

Great to see her at the net a bit too

Ella has been playing a lot of doubles this year - must give her a lot of confidence at the net.
