QR1:  (q1) John Peers & Jordan Thompson (AUS/AUS) CR 77 (45+32) vs Julian Cash & Robert Galloway (USA) CR 87 (48+39)

QR1:  (qWC) Rinky Hijikata (AUS) & Henry Patten CR 93 (51+42) vs (q2) Alexander Erler & Lucas Miedler (AUT/AUT) CR 80 (40+40)

Good to see Henry getting in on the Queen's act.  Glad he's not facing Julian in QR1.

Queen's doubles is always ridiculously strong, but to have to beat two pairs of that calibre to even reach the main draw.

Harri Heliovaara obviously not recovered from his injury yet. The irony is that if Harri and Henri were playing together they wouldn't have got a wild card if they needed one.

Cam and Jack a perfect example of a wild card that will please fans but not trouble the scorers. And they'll now win the event.

And they probably didn't need to fix the draw too much to have singles teams playing doubles teams as the seeds will all be doubles teams. Curious as to how they conducted the draw though.

Rinky of course is a former Aussie open winner, like Peers. Some decent players in qualies.

Is that confirmed ? There has been a withdrawal so two spots available for the Qualifier and a Lucky Loser? Also might end up being a 3rd if Dan has to pull out.

No, that was as things stood with the draw at the moment.  That said, I have just looked again & I see that there's also a vacant slot against the third seeds, Arévalo & Pavic, so things could look up...

The other position is against Arevalo and Pavic and, yep, if Dan pulls out then one against Dodig and Krajicek might come up. Which may let in Henry?

How many measly points will Julian get for qualifying in doubles . A lot of work for not much gain.

Only problem Hijikata is playing in Eastbourne qualifying on Saturday so may not want to play.
