Henry Patten

I don't see a thread for Henry but he has just done a guest blog post on Harri's blog (and I know how much we love Harri's blog!)

Very informative and I will be rooting for this partnership even more than I was before!

(Sigh - not sure why it won't let me do actual links)

What a lovely blog post: funny and insightful! I didn't know much about Henry, so that was very interesting. I especially hadn't realised he came round to the idea of playing tennis professionally so late or that, while I knew he and Julian had a storming season or so together, their rise was that meteoric. Also nice to see that Henry considers he and Julian are still friends after the split (which seemed a little bit unhappy at the time.)

Thanks for posting, Blue Belle. And yes, also rooting for Henry and Harri even more than I was!

Isnt this the Louis Cayer coached approach to doubles - very structured and focused way of playing the court and the angles. I think the Cayer approach is the British system, obviously other coaches like Calvin Breton would be aligned into that.

Interesting saying that Neal and lloyd would be good alternatives for him; glad to see he and Julian are good friends still - we always wonder here, dont we, but I guess separating the professional need from the personal friendship aspect is key at this level

And hope he and Liv Nicholls can get into the mixed at Wimbledon!!

Just come across this 11 minute interview with Henry for his college's "All-Access" series which may be of interest to Henry fans. The first couple of minutes cover his time at Asheville before moving on to his pro partnerships and Wimbledon. It appears to have been recorded at some time between Wimbledon and the start of the US swing and released at the end of August.

Henry is now top on the live ranking list, with Joe dropping a chunk of points at the end of this week; Joe drops even more next week with Paris and Turin coming off, and he wont replace Turin at all, whereas Henry will be in Turin.

So it looks pretty certain Henry will see that live number one through now to a "real" number one and season end number one as well.
