Week 24 - ATP Challenger 125 - Rothesay Open - Nottingham, Great Britain (grass) - singles

I fear that my excitement at the start of the grass court season has already got the better of me!  wink  The LTA has released the entry lists for both the men's & the women's events (women's first).  As has been reported in the Entries forum, Cam has a WC & is likely to be the top seed, while Dan will be just behind him & Liam is out literally on what might be termed a technical knock-out; Jan may be there, depending on how he performs in Heilbronn today.  If Darts is to be believed, Billy, Ryan, Charlie, Felix Gill & Jay are waiting in the wings for any further main draw WCs, but will otherwise end up in qualies, along with Aidan & Giles.  Kyle, Hamish Stewart, Jake Fearnley, Dan Cox, Dan Little, Henry Searle, Harry W, Jack PJ & Patrick Brady will be feeding off any scraps as qualy alternates.

The LTA doesn't list the men's doubles entrants, but as things stand at the moment, the competition doesn't appear to be stuffed to the gills with Brits, with only Josh Paris currently listed, playing alongside the Aussie, Blake Ellis.

I think Paul Jubb probably has a WC. I think it's been mentioned that Searle has exams possibly?

Hes taking history and psychology as I read it, so I thought he would be finished this weekend looking at exam timetables, but maybe a different board.

I guess they are waiting to see if Billy can get in without a WC before announcing them. Liam will withdraw which will put him 3 out if not 2, not sure if Wong makes DA his NG is replaced. The SE might clear which would then free up 2 other spots. Obviously Billy could end up on a SE.

If Billy doesnt need a WC then Id imagine Paul & Ryan will get them.

That may help to explain why the Darts list shows him as having withdrawn from qualies.  I did wonder about that.

The LTA list now confirms that Billy & Paul have main draw WCs.  smile

Presumably the SE trumps the WC and they will reallocate the wildcard ?! I think they announced the wildcard before he secured the SE?

Regarding searle I saw he was practicing at the NTC via LTA social media video.. so maybe he has a QWC ( I hope) unless of course as been mentioned many times that he still has exams.

We should be giving WCs to juniors who have performed well and especially someone who has won Junior Wimbledon

I'd be amazed if Searle didn't get a Q WC. In fact don't junior Wimbledon winners ( from any nation ) not often get Q WCs?

i think they do for Wimbledon but not sure about other British lead up tournaments?

Yes, I deleted my post after I sussed that you were probably thinking more generally than Wimbledon - eg. Nottingham.
