Evo really has to hope he can get a win over Fognini. Generally Id hope yes, but in Rome

Jack - Coric not been on recent form, Id like to think Jack can win that one. Whether he will

 Is Coric good on clay?

Im not sure medvedev on clay is the worst draw either, especially early on.

Coric won a round in Monte Carlo and lost his opener in Barcelona - beat Hasan in Madrid before losing to Zverev. So hes 2-3 on the season on clay, 9-10 for the season as a whole.

Jack is 3-3 on clay and 12-9 overall for the year. So Id say he and Coric are pretty closely matched on clay and generally - nothing to fear but its probably a fifty fifty match.

Again, not enough Brits in the doubles this time to justify a separate thread:

L32:  (4) Austin Krajicek (USA) & Neal Skupski CR 19 (9+10) vs Marcelo Melo & Alexander Zverev (BRA/GER) CR 125 (37+88)

L32:  Lloyd Glasspool & Jean-Julien Rojer (NED) CR 62 (38+24) vs Jamie Murray & Michael Venus (NZL) CR 45 (22+23)  hmm
L32:  Sebastian Korda & Jordan Thompson (USA/AUS) CR 93 (57+36 (*)) vs (3) Rajeev Ram (USA) & Joe Salisbury CR 11 (6+5)

(*) both CHs thanks to their lifting the title in Madrid last week, Korda up by 128 places & Thompson by 22

Only eight pairs seeded pairs this week.

Pissing down in Rome now just as the match before Jack's was well into a second set. Boooo. At least they have covered the court.

Jack now on court, just missed 3 BPs to go 4-2 up.

I can't help but be a little intrigued by who the young lady is who's sat behind Trotters, Ferreira and Herbert......wink

JD breaks to take the first set 7-5.  This is entertaining tennis.  The stream on https://en24.sportplus.live/tennis/atp-rome/5424474/   isn't great, but it is free and it works, which is more than can be said for TennisTV.com

JD is hitting big, maybe Coric's level has dipped a tiny bit.  JD leads 4-0.   This type of hitting will get him far on faster surfaces.
