Harriet has just had a week training block on clay at the Rafa Nadal Academy.

Harriet wins the first set 6-1.

Works phenomenally hard to get the break back in the second to level at *4-4, battles from *0-40 to get advantage twice, misses both game points and doubles on the fourth break point.

Racket is launched back to her chair. Meltdown coming

4-5*

She's absolutely fallen apart. Shame as if she'd held that *4-4 I'm fairly certain she'd have won.

She's making a fool of herself on court yet again.

She's lucky in the fact that her opponent is also making silly mistakes and she could turn this around even at this late stage.

She got the break back initially then made a complete hash of *40-0 to get broken again, but has now got one break back and consolidated.

She is the better player here overall (which to be honest I hadn't expected) but is really allowing the situation to overwhelm her instead of being able to put a single bad mistake or decision behind her and refocus.

3-4*

Is Harriet seeing a sports psychologist? Definitely needs help with her temper

Rather worrying she's still behaving like this at 27. Like Jodie she seems perfectly pleasant off-court but regresses into petulance when things go against her.

Yes. And this is not a McEnroe situation where it acutally works in her favour and so, might be gamesmanship, but at least is worthwhile

This is just her shooting herself in the foot

It would also really put off sponsors too

It's not a hanging offence, and she has lots of good qualities, but there is nothing more irritating than seeing someone behaving badly and effectively throwing away a win (and not once but over and over)

It's tricky with Harriet; there's a fiesty-ness (spelling?) which has helped her win so many matches, especially ones when she was the underdog, and it's such a fine balance between that and petulance. She's worked very well to get herself back into the top 100, so just hope she can find that balance to stay there and chalk up some decent wins this year.

After getting herself back into the top 100 she has not played well at all. it is documented that she has had a training block at the Nadal academy

ready for the upcoming clay season but her frustration with her standard of play boiled over at this tournament.

Wasn't she studying for a psychology degree?
