When Georgi has one of her ON days, its quite a sight to behold. 2 or 3 of her winners were just insane. And her second serve is so aggressive - with many DFs in the past - but it held up brilliantly. I watched Katie having a laugh with her team towards the end, so she wasnt too worried. Fatigue from San Diego, lots of emotional energy spent, lack of time to prepare at IW, and a very dangerous opponent. I would have been amazed if Katie had won this match today - she needed a far easier draw to have a chance. A chance to rest and enjoy her incredible performance last week
Oh gawd - disappointing from my perspective as i had hoped to see her play on Friday. But she did so well last week so this was probably understandable

Still a bit disappointing given Giorgi's poor form so far this year.

Couldn't agree more with this statement - when Giorgi has one of her really good days, she is a really tough opponent. It's funny, but I've watched lots of her matches over the years and who she seems to really like playing against are hard hitters and she then uses their pace and her speed around court to play aggressively and generate a lot of winners, so I guess Katie B is an opponent she would have been happy to play against; in some ways their games are quite similar. Katie did so well last week and this was probably a tough match with not enough time to get ready and prepare - she may benefit from the break now and of course will benefit from all those points gained last week.
Didnt expect Katie to win that one - and glad she didnt in a strange way! Given the issues shes had, a good few days rest before a good week building up to Miami will be good for her in the long term. Has she a chance of being seeded in Miami?

Katie will be seeded in Miami so will have a bye through to R2/L64 and a later in the week starr.
Though before that she was entered for the Charleston WTA 125 during Indian Wells Week 2. I don't know if she still is?
