February 2024 Player of the Month Nominations Thread

Andy Lapthorne and Alfie Hewett are also both into finals and titles will get me nominating them also! So we could go higher. I have no idea what the record is but 25 plus must be close. No idea yet how the groups will break down- 25 will be 5 of 5, 26 2 of 13, 27 3 of 9. All over the place ! My AI help has thrown the towel in, its down to old schools methods !

If it remains at 25, I certainly wouldn't be doing 5 groups of 5, even though thst works mathematically. There would be a danger of a really strong group or perceived strong group  compared to say one or two others so maybe not ideal if you were then say taking 2 from each group into the final. Better just to have uneven group numbers.

I'd probably go with 2 groups whatever, 3 at most.

Yeah, I dwelt on that last night as well. 5 groups doesnt work for the final. Partly as I dont really want 10 players in the final. Ideally Id like to land it on 6 in the final. So 2 or 3 groups works best for that.

always need to keep in mind the top 2 each month progress to our POS finals later in the season; so I ideally need at least 2 or 3 to progress from each semi group into the final.

Ive also given up on the AI trying to help me form groups - it struggles with identifying female or male players and singles and doubles specialists, I end up having to tell it who they are - and then it doesnt really randomise the groupings order from the original list. Maybe what I am asking it to do isnt clear. Anyway, I may as well do it myself, as I actually quite enjoy the group creation process!

lets see where we land - could be 26 or 27 , instead. I think 28 unlikely now. All good stuff !

I was wrong with Liv's nomination. I forgot that she won Granby with Lissey in 2022 - the only year that Granby was a WTA250 rather than a W100 as in previous years.
