Patrick gets the win 6-2 6-2. A rare win at this level today for a GB player.

I know nothing about his previous background but from what I can see, Patricks approach seems to be very different from that of his similar ranked colleagues.

Since last September he has entered 11 tournaments of which 7 have been challengers at various levels. In all of the challengers he has been in qualifying (as an Alt mainly) and has picked up points in 6 of them.

As far as I can see this is his first main draw win.

Most guys ranked in the 800s are aiming mainly at ITF25/15 so this is quite unusual (or am I reading too much into this) so it will be interesting to watch how he continues to progress.

L16:  (3) Emilio  Nava (USA) WR 150 (CH = 145 last October) vs (Q) Patrick Brady WR 816

That's probably the end of the road for him this week.

I guess the advantage of sticking to Challenger level if he can, is the Hotels are complimentary as far as I understand. Even if you get knocked out in QR1 youd get the night before and night after covered. If on the road for several weeks getting 2/7 nights a week minimum paid for must help quite a bit.

On top if that training/hitting against higher level of players outside of matches can also only be a good thing.
