Week 2 - ITF W35 Loughborough, GB - Indoor Hard

I'm sure wolf, Peter or someone else will be along with the qualifying draw soon, but in the mean time it can be found here.

As TA reported in the entries thread, 17 GB women in qualifying. But despite occupying half the draw, I think we'll be doing well to get more than a couple of qualifiers.

Sonay, Anna, Katy, Beth and Emily A expected in the main draw with WCs looking like Eliz, Freya and Alice. It's not immediately obvious to me who the 4th WC is. No one jumps out of the alternate list, most established players are committed elsewhere with the possible exceptions of Eden and Naiktha and most of the juniors that will get WCs this year are in Australia or Slovakia.

Some surprise expressed in the entries thread that Ranah and Ella are going through qualifying. As I said there, I'm not too surprised with Ella as her form was poor last year and she needs wins to build her confidence and doesn't have juniors to fall back on any more. Ranah, a bit more surprising as she has a feed up WC available from being the British Tour Masters champion, but she (or the LTA) may holding that back for Sunderland, or she may just have chosen to play qualifying.

I have been unable to get out much for various reasons for the last few years. My wife passed away from Alzheimers in 2021 and I feel I need to get out more and pursue my other hobby of wildlife photography. So I won't be around so often to do the draw, certainly not as the draws come out on a Saturday afternoon/evening. I will post events that interest me, for example I am interested in seeing how Emma does after the next few months but other events may be delayed if left to me. I have been posting the draws first on the Rusedski site and then here for 17 years so it is probably time for someone else with time to spare to have a go.

 You're amazing.

Thank you and enjoy your other hobby. Far healthier to be outside than inside crunched over a computer just for us plebs

Thanks for everything Peter. I keep my own spreadsheet of who is playing where, so will try and cover the ITF events if nobody beats me to it. And I will cover the ITF doubles as usual. Wolf seems to be covering most of the WTA events, but I will cover those as well if needed.

Go and enjoy your other hobby, especially as the weather will improve eventually !

Ditto

Enjoy tennis, enjoy photography, whatever you need to make life that tiny bit 'richer', which is all any of us are aiming for really

And don't in the slightest worry about the draws biggrin

Someone will do them - some day - and even if not, the world will still keep turning..... smile
