September 2023 Player of the Month Vote - Semifinal C


21 players , split into 3 groups of 7. Top 2 make it to the final (plus any ties).

 

Vote will close at 9:05 am Tuesday morning and the final will be Tuesday through Wednesday.

Please say who you vote for as it makes it more interesting and also encourages others to vote.

All 21 players records listed below, so please pick through for the 7 in this group 

1. Mika Stojsavljevic (born 2008) - for qualifying for the US Open Juniors at age 14 and beating the top qualifying seed on the way, and then winning a round in the main draw.

2. Mimi Xu (born 2007) - for doing the double, at the J300 in Canada. Singles and doubles title winner.

3. Josh Paris - for winning his first Challenger level title in Mallorca, winning the doubles unseeded.

4. Jack Draper - For his US Open breakthrough reaching the last 16 and showing he is ready for the next big step up. Re - entered the top 100 on the back of RU Challenger position in Orleans

5. Hannah Klugman (born 2009) - doubles winner and singles RU at the J300 in Canada. Then at the US Open Juniors she reached the QF of both singles ( beat the JWR 5 in R3 ) and doubles ( with Mimi Xu ) but then had to retire from the singles and withdraw from the doubles due to illness.

6. Jeremy Gschwendtner - Getting a singles world ranking for the 1st time after an MD win in Romania having come through 3 rounds of qualies

7. Andy Lapthorne - causing three upsets in total in reaching singles semis and doubles final of quad wheelchair events at US Open

8. Joe Salisbury - for winning the US Open with Rajeev Ram for the third consecutive year.

9. Dahnon Ward - won the US Open Junior Wheelchair title, beating the top seed in the final and he did the double as he won the doubles with Joshua Johns!!

10. Alfie Hewett - for winning the US Open mens singles wheelchair title, his 9th career slam singles title and second slam singles title this season.

11. Katie Dyson - completely unranked and unheralded, Katie is age 26, never had any WTA ranking of any kind, and yet has just won the doubles title in the 15k in Monastir. One for the 'They also serve.....' category

12. Harry Wendelken - for winning the M25 singles title in Portugal and breaking into the Top 500 in the live rankings. Should be confirmed next Monday.

13. Felix Mischker - for gaining his first ATP ranking point have come through 3 rounds of qualies without dropping a set and following up with another straight sets win in R1 of an M25 in Tunisia

14. Oliver Okonkwo - for also gaining his first ever World Ranking point with a 1st round win as a WC in Champaign USA

15. Dan Evans : Reached the L32 at the US Open, losing to Carlos Alcaraz in 4 sets. Then in the Davis Cup Finals group.stage in Manchester won his 2 singles matches and 2 out of 3 doubles matches ( with Neal Skupski ), saving 4 MPs in an ultimate third set TB decider vs Mahut & Roger- V of France, with some amazing play by both. Dan on court for nearly 5 hours on that final day.

16. GB Davis Cup Team - For getting through to the finals in Malaga in the most dramatic fashion.

17. Liam Broady - For finally cracking the Top 100 in the ATP rankings by reaching the final of the Challenger 125 in Saint Tropez

18. Giles Hussey - 2 September M15 singles titles ( in Hungary and Sweden ) and 10 wins in a row. Back into the top 500, not far off his CH.

19. Tom Hill - for coaching Maria Sakkari, for a long time, having endured awful trolling on social media, with Maria being cast as the ultimate choker, about to quit - and sticking with it, helping her finally win a big title - coaches are often unsung heroes, so well done Tom.

20. Freya Peet - born 2008, she's just won the singles in the J60 in Botswana, and was runner-up in the doubles.

21. Hollie Smart - born 2009 - playing just her third ever ITF event - has won the title in the J60 in Greece. It's a name that going to be high up of the GB interest list for years to come.

Voted for Jack for seizing his opportunities as he climbs back up the rankings. But Hannah and Harry were strong contenders for my vote, so I hope other people vote for them.

Yes, Hannah waa a contender for me too. But unfortunately her month ended as "what might have been" Jack gets my vote .
