Week 38 - ATP Challenger 125 - Saint-Tropez, France (hard)

Looks like one of Liams ranking rivals, Kotov, won in China ATP 250 and Garin also won, so Liam is now Live 102 and a win will leave him short of top 100. So it now looks like at least 2 wins needed (including today if he gets to play)

Weather's holding. Liam's up. Fingers crossed!

Aaaand of course down comes the rain, with Liam a break and 30-0 up!

Correction: must have been a light shower as the umpire shuffled around the court a bit, rubbed his foot over a couple of tramlines, and declared "play on"!

Further correction: chucking it down again... match suspended at 2-1 and 15-15 on Liam's serve.

The live stream is showing heavy rain. No prospect of play any time soon. I wonder if they will consider playing under lights?

Sun's out in St Tropez today, if a little breezy by the looks of things. Liam a set up. All good.

Liam wins 6-2 6-2, really hope he can crack the top 100 and cover the points he's dropping from Tel Aviv this week

Good to see he got a fairly quick easy win as I think he will have to play again later on.

One more win could be enough. Let's hope so.

That win would jump him over 4 players from Live 101 to Live 97.  Only one of those 4 players is still playing this week. Also, there are only 4 players below him in Live rankings with the chance to overtake but that would take some extraordinary results.

Definitely scheduled to play a second match today.

Centre Court: Not before 5.30pm (that's probably French time so 4.30pm UK).

Barrere and Cazaux looking like going into a 3rd set. Cazaux won the 1st, Barrere about to serve for the 2nd at *5-4

Edit

3rd set confirmed. Let's hope for a long and tense TB at the end of it.

the schedule seems to have 3 more matches after the French guys finish - that aint happening in just 4 hours, IMO, so either Liams next match will be a lot later than the NB time or they will move stuff onto other courts -- I cant imagine they will want to hang it over to another day if courts are available to get things played?

I've seen some pics of floodlit play on the tournament website, so I guess they could go later into the evening on the centre court there?

If not, the "Court 5" schedule is fairly light today, and there will have to be a sizeable gap before the final doubles as Brouwer's previous round dubs hasn't even started yet and indeed he's currently in the early stages of a singles match!
