I'm not up on Osorio's general form though a quick look shows not that much away from clay this year. And just missing out on a qualifying seeding herself, Katie has drawn seed 15 out of the 16 seeds she could have drawn. I guess it was basically going to be tough whatever but that does look a relatively decent draw to me.
And quite right to be competing here now that her ranking gets her comfortably in to qualifying. She needs now to be testing herself against these players in this environment. She's also in no particular need of matches or court time so seek the quality.
When Katie last played Osorio, Osorio was 19 years old and ranked 98, Katie was ranked 262. It would have been the first grass court tournament of the year for many players.
