I really wanted Hannah to win at least one match in Qualifying but hopefully will do better at Junior Wimbledon. Naiktha's win a pleasant surprise. Eden probably the most disappointing, her singles form has tailed off badly since her Nottingham win last year.

I don't know. In some ways it's not a bad thing that she's not even more high profile than she is at the moment. She's only 14 and I can just imagine the press she would have got if she'd won. Not helped by the fact she's pretty like Emma. I think it's probably been an excellent experience for her. She'll have learnt so much from playing a much more experienced player with a lot of fan interest in a home tournament. The thing is they give you all this positive press at first and then all the negativity in the media and social media kicks in. I don't know how a 14 year old is supposed to deal with this. Even on here people are saying that Emma is distracted by sponsorship, should retire etc. I'd be happy for her to have another year of relative anonymity. One good thing is that the GB girls seem quite supportive of each other, you often see them watching each other's matches, for instance Isa watched Hannah's match yesterday.
Hopefully doing well at junior Wimbledon wouldn't bring quite such a lot of attention. More back pages than front page of newspapers etc.

Can we not talk about a 14 year olds looks? It seems very problematic.

That comment was clearly made in an innocent manner to make a valid point about the pressure that tennis can bring. Youre making something out of nothing

Because not talking about a problem always solves it.

I'm not making something out of nothing, and I'm also not saying the poster didn't post it innocently. I just don't think we need to talk about the aesthetics / looks of a child.
If you hadn't brought this up it would have passed by without further comnent. Now you have created a discussion where none was warranted. I'm in full agreement with markymc1993.

I don't agree, there's clearly a huge difference in mens / womens sport. A 14 year old boy would never have his looks being brought up into the conversation.
Out of curiosity, do the posters who disagree with me have young female family members? If so, would they want adults talking online about how pretty she is?
Im certainly not objectifying any girls about their looks. Im female myself. But I think I was being realistic. However I certainly didnt mean to offend anyone. Ive deleted my earlier comment. However my point still stands about protecting Hannah from unwanted interest . I wasnt following junior tennis when Laura won Junior Wimbledon and Im sad she got a lot of attention then too.

I agree with the need to protect Hannah Nix. She has a closed Instagram account until she turns 16, like, everyone. It is such a shame that there are people on social who can be so vile to young women. I have been reading some of the posts on Emma R's feed, and I hope she never sets eyes on them. Why do people have it in for women tennis players? Osaka etc. You don't see the same comments about Jack D, and a lot of the other blokes. Sad.
Threatened in the second set briefly but Yuan had the bigger ball, and didn't spray enough errors. Think Lily will be a little disappointed not to impose herself more on that one but not her day.
