I think we all build up a mental image of posters on here in our sub-conscious. I sat down next to this chap with a black Nike backpack and the Spider Senses started tingling and I thought "Am I siting next to Coup Droit? Stupid because there were a few thousand there but, It bugged me all day, in fact still is now! Tell me that you didn't have a black Nike backpack Coup

Good analysis on Hannah and Emily, CD. Emily was going downhill when I decided to go for a walk round and I'm glad I did ! Hannah was excellent in the second set (despite the errors of judgement which experience will iron out)
As I said before, Bates and O'Brien were in the stand for Lily's match - and were barely audible from 8 feet away, let alone the court - but Lily had her coach there in the front row who was audible. It was that sort of day, I kept seeing him wherever I went.

Hahaha - I was also there today and have an image of how I think CD would look! Were you wearing a blue and white checked shirt and almost slipped down the bank during Emilys match?
My first visit to qualifying and after the 2 1/4 hour journey, I thought that one experience might be enough. However, we had a great day despite watching all the matches our players lost. Amazed at the space, the limited number of people so it was easy to watch any match up very close - all very relaxed and great value at £15. I really had to restrain myself when Andrew Castle, standing only a few feet from me, replied to several ladies fawning over him who had asked why he was working there - well, a few thousand in your pocket is always handy. If only he earned it!
Three wins out of eight feels decent to me and it is worth remembering that all of our players were up against higher ranked opponents.
As Indiana mentioned, the three qualifying are our highest ranked players, so I don't feel as downbeat as others on how things will go tomorrow.
I feel with home advantage and on grass courts that all three matches are going to be close, maybe with all three matches going to three sets. I have a sneaking suspicion that Anna may have the best chance - against a younger and less experienced opponent, she might upset the rankings and come through. Golubic and Yuan have bags of experience, but I don't see any of the three matches as a foregone conclusion - Golubic's match today was very long too - and that could be a factor if the match tomorrow is lengthy and close.
On the subject of how we have done in recent years in qualifying - want to mention Katie Swan who qualified last year, so let's take some hope from that and the fact that our tennis appears to be on an upward trajectory this year, with Katie B back in the top 100 and others reasonably close to joining her.
I really wanted Hannah to win at least one match in Qualifying but hopefully will do better at Junior Wimbledon. Naiktha's win a pleasant surprise. Eden probably the most disappointing, her singles form has tailed off badly since her Nottingham win last year.

I don't know. In some ways it's not a bad thing that she's not even more high profile than she is at the moment. She's only 14 and I can just imagine the press she would have got if she'd won.. I think it's probably been an excellent experience for her. She'll have learnt so much from playing a much more experienced player with a lot of fan interest in a home tournament. The thing is they give you all this positive press at first and then all the negativity in the media and social media kicks in. I don't know how a 14 year old is supposed to deal with this. Even on here people are saying that Emma is distracted by sponsorship, should retire etc. I'd be happy for her to have another year of relative anonymity. One good thing is that the GB girls seem quite supportive of each other, you often see them watching each other's matches, for instance Isa watched Hannah's match yesterday.
Hopefully doing well at junior Wimbledon wouldn't bring quite such a lot of attention. More back pages than front page of newspapers etc.

Hilarious ! Yes, Andrew Castle schmoozes round the place, kissing babies and charming old ladies.
Actually, I don't really mind the man - you get what's on the can. He's just a bit of fluff.
Mind you, he doesn't even win the 'Idiot of the Day' category
That goes to one LTA official who I was sitting next to when I got a sandwich. This LTA guy had been to Monte Carlo, had met Djokovic several times, no idea what he did exactly but he wasn't Jo Schmo.
And he was talking about Andy to his friend:
"Well of course, Andy is only focusing on doubles now. He plays with his brother, Jamie, so that makes it easy'.
There's something on their site about not being allowed to take in big cooler boxes
I took in a small amount of food but I saw others who'd obviously taken in more serious stuff (although, presumably, not in cooler boxes). No idea about alcohol. Don't see why not but you never know with them
It is the same rules as at the main event. See the below link for other info about entry.
