Wimbledon Qualifying

Opportunities in there. I'd be expecting Hannah to beat Jani even at this stage of her career.

Big tests for Mimi and Isa but hope they can bring their best and who knows. Eden and Emily have decent prospects too.

Yup very decent first round draws across the board. Anna will be hard pushed against Jimenez, and Isabelle has a big job against Ruse, but otherwise you can't complain.

Agree with Paul that Hannah must be a favourite against Jani, who is perennial GS early round qualifying fodder. I would also fancy Emily to come through against Zhao, and Eden has a good draw (on grass) too.

Decent first round draws, but it will get tough after that.

Mimi and Hannah are in the section with Avanesyan the Q1 seed.
Emily could meet Rus Q2 in the second round.
Isabelle could face Wickmayer in the second round.

I saw Hannah walking round the Bank of England club today, looking very sporty and elegant

As well as relaxed and smiley

Saw Marni too but not the others (although I guess they probably weren't far)

As others have said, another set of pretty good draws

I'm there Wednesday and Thursday (only because the Thursday tickets sold out so I went for Wednesday and then a Thursday ticket came up, I am not popular at work)

I think you may be very grateful for the Wednesday ticket.

Looks like weather is going to be a major problem for Thursday. But - touch wood - should be just fine until then

For those us us that cant go its really disappointing that only Lily is on the televised court. Surely they must realise fans would rather watch Hannah, Mimi, Isabelle etc rather than the likes of Genie Bouchard and Jacquemot!

Do you think it was possibly a bit of a 'sop' to Lily?
Because she hadn't been given a MD WC?
At least we give you the show court?
Or is that overthinking it?
Mind you, you could have had Lily AND the match of Isabelle, say ....
I personally wouldn't put Hannah or Mimi on the show court - I think it's a little initimidating, maybe, and best to be on a lower court. So I think that's right. Mind you, I don't like that Hannah is on last - again, I don't think that's helpful to her and better to play early, easier for timing, you don't get so nervous, etc etc.
But Isa has been high profile so far this summer, she's our U18 champion, she would be the perfect youngster to go on the show court

They'll be thinking about international audiences for the countries that are taking the coverage too I guess.

And all courts are streamed on the betting sites etc... (and you don't need to put up with Inverdale!)

Yes, I think having Mirra's match on the Stadium court is a perfect choice for international audiences.
And an American player makes sense
I don't see that Bouchard v Minnen is very high quality but I guess Bouchard still has name recognition value, which is more than a lot of them
Tauson v Bektas would have been a better US match, I reckon
Or Krueger's match, given she's just won a title

We forget that Bouchard was RU at Wimbledon, and yes, she does have name recognition.

Considering they sold out every day it's surprisingly quiet with 10 minutes before play starts.

ETA apart from the planes overhead of couree!
