A Cox-Wright match in rd3 looks likely which could be interesting, I'd go with Alan in 3 sets with his greater expertise on clay courts. More and more Brits are heading to the clay-court academies in Spain and playing the futures and satellites there as there's virtually one every week - not for me though, nasty slow red stuff
Alan's rd3 opponent is unranked and just 16 years old. His career best result was reaching the final qualifying round of Spain F12 at the end of April.
Rd3: A Wright [GB] [12] bt O Hernandez [Esp] 6-4, 6-4
Rd4: M Perez [Esp] [6] bt A Wright [GB] [12] 6-0, 7-6[2]
This was always going to be a tough match for Alan as Perez is ranked 891. Looks like he got a bit outclassed in set 1 but the 2nd set looks like it was pretty close.
Alan is 3rd in line for a lucky loser spot but with no players withdrawing from the main draw so far this week it looks unlikely that he'll get in
Britain's Pierre Clad is again in the doubles main draw, this week partnering Ireland's Michael Hayes.
Rd1: P Clad/M Hayes v B Malo/V Salinkov [Chi]/[Rus]
