Week 25 - ATP 500 - cinch Championships - The Queen's Club, London, Great Britain (grass)

There have been one or two references already to Queen's.  The player entry list is available on the ATP site.  Alcaraz will be the top seed, Cam probably the fifth, Dan possibly 11th.  Andy is also in the mix.  According to Darts, Jack is currently 12th alternate, but I can't see him, WR 55, being denied an automatic place if Schwartzman (WR 95) is in!

There was talk on another thread of whether qualifications was open to the general public.

Which it isn't.

No idea why not. It used to be. Then there were jublilee preparation claims. And some renovations. But this year - yet again - it simply says 'no' and no explanation.

I blasted off some 'complaint' emails - to Queens, to the LTA and to Cinch

I heard nothing back from Queens, nor the LTA.

But got a nice reply from Cinch who said they are taking the matter up with the Coroporate Communications Team at LTA.

I've replied to say thank you and that I think is a good idea - after all, a normal car company, aimed at the normal public, might have reservations about becoming sponsor at pretty much exactly the time the event chooses to exclude said normal public. Who knows ... their voice (once they've realised) might have an impact on the LTA

(It's a very small thing, in the scheme of things, but, hey, it's all we can do)

PS I sent my email to compaints@cinch.co.uk

if anyone else wants to...

Andy and Cam is an interesting pairing.

Good to see Raonic back after a super long layoff. Probably a last chance saloon

Andy looking to play Doubles & Singles! When was the last time he did that? Surprised he is looking to do it.

Well he definitely did it a few years ago - 2019 - with Feli Lopez

Correct, it was just doubles.

I am guessing he feels good in his body, grass takes less out of you and doubles should sharpen his game up.

Pairing with Cam will be v interesting to see, as will Dan and Lloyd. In fact, the doubles entry is pretty good overall

In fact, it is 2015 when he last played doubles with Dom Inglot and also played (and won) the singles event

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_Aegon_Championships_%E2%80%93_Doubles

Not sure when he last played singles AND doubles at any other event though?

Just had another look, ignoring the group stage of the Davis cup last year where he played 2 doubles and 1 singles. 2019 he lost in round 1 of the singles at Cincinnati and then made the quarter finals in the doubles with Feli Lopez.

Going back to the lack of qualifying being open to the public. Queens have said it is down to the LTA. Starting to get a bit of traction on Twitter even Liam commenting.

Hi the cinch Champs is fully owned and operated by the @the_LTA with Queens being the host venue. The LTA has advised that there will be no public access for Qualifying Weekend this year. All up to date info can be found below!
