May 2023 British Player of the Month Nominations

Not too sure what you meant by 'FO starts', and just my opinion, but I think RG qualifiers should be part of May. (You might have meant that anyway)

It's a different competition, really, to RG proper. Stands alone.

We even have different threads for them in this forum because of that.

It's a whole week in May. And by the time we get to end of June, no one will remember what was going on on May 23rd, say. You lose the momentum of the feel good moment (hoping that we have some)

Just my view.......

Oh absolutely and I agree that qualies are effectively a separate event in my mind, certainly for the slams  - FO starts I meant main draw ! Which I think starts the Sunday but of course Ill let whatever other events end Sunday count towards May - Ill change my post above to say main draw!

Im not sure exactly how I have done it in the past , whether Im contradicting past process, but either way I agree French qualies should count towards May - in run of the mill ITF events or ATP/WTA events, it tends not to end up being a discussion point as I cant recall many players getting nominated for qualies performances outside a slam!

To make myself feel better, it seems RG qualies counted for May last time although the start date for the main draw seems to have been May 22nd last year, so a week earlier- Was the whole season a week earlier last season?

I'm confused - RG starts on 22nd May this year, 2023

Qualifications

The qualifying rounds take place on 22-26 May

Ok - I was thinking the main draw started 22nd last year and starts 29th this year or that weekend. Doesnt matter, its irrelevant .

Yeah , RG qualifying started 16th May last year, a week earlier , and starts 22nd May this year, just a realignment in the cycle of the year I guess.

Doesnt matter one jot

Nominations May 2023

1. George Loffhagen - for winning the 25k in Notts, against Jule Marie, 150 places higher than him. And for just being back in general !

2. GB Mens Wheelchair Team - for winning the World Cup in Portugal, the first time in 4 years, having been seeded second and being unbeaten all week

3. GB Juniors Wheelchair Team - for winning the World Cup in Portugal, first time since 2013 and after being runners up for the past 3 years. Seeded second .

4. Andy Murray - for winning his first title since 2019 and on clay in a strong field, beating world number 17 Tommy Paul in the final

A small list still but as we hit mid point in week 3 of 4 this month, some names might come through. Remember to just add nominations to the list above by copying the list, pasting in a new post and adding your nominees name and reason

Will any of these join our small band of nominees over the weekend? Just one week left after this weekend, possibly our smallest list ever, hopefully someone will come and join them

Lloyd, Luke, Stuart, Millen and Giles all take titles today in mens doubles

Jay (today), Anna (tomorrow) both have finals to come, maybe Aidan can join them, and maybe Naiktha can qualify for a WTA 250?

Maybe one of these will get onto our list for nominees!?
