RE: March 2023 Player of the Month Vote

Tough choices, my top 3 were Billy,  Jodie and George,  went for the latter. So impressive to win after a gap.

of this months nominees, only 2 of the 16 have won PoM previously - Emma R won a whole load back in the summer of 2021, and Billy H tied for PoM with 2 other players back in Nov/Dec 2021. The other 14 nominated this month would be new to the winners circle.

 thanks Miriam

We are at 31 votes now, still 5 players received votes.

I will provide a run down of voting early evening this evening without naming players names! But suffice to say, the 3 you mention are in the 5 players with votes so far!!

up 33 votes now, still 5 players with votes placed.

Not expecting too much action til these evening, may see a few more pop in then and then a few more tomorrow before the close. I suspect the majority of votes are in fact in now though, so it will probably be relatively quiet as the deluge all came Sunday evening

So the scores are currently:

19, 7, 5, 2, 2 and the rest with zero - 35 votes placed in total

Still 5 players with a vote - top spot may be tied up to be honest, but second and third is up for grabs and it is worth reminding that the top 2 both qualify for the Player of the Season vote in December.

So far, 4 players have qualified for the Player of Season field already on the basis of the Jan and Feb PoM votes - Andy Murray, Mark Ceban, Cam Norrie and Hannah Klugman. Mark and Hannah are of course in the junior nationals fields over the next fortnight.

Reminder, March PoM vote closes tomorrow evening at 6.50pm

and a nice little jump to 37 votes since the update above. I will give another update at the 24 hour mark and then one before bed time later and that will be it for the day.

Some people may wonder why I do these little updates - the thing is, the general section isn't a place where everyone visits like the mens and womens sections, or juniors. So not everyone sees this thread. My little updates are really just to raise a little attention to it; each of the updates above , today at least, has elicited some extra votes in return - the last one above had two votes quickly afterwards, the one before that, the same. So the reminders serve a purpose to try and raise the votes - my logic in that is that the more who vote, the more authentic the result.

I hope folks don't mind and apologise if anyone finds it a little irritating, I try and keep it relatively low key these days although admit I used to be a bit of a pain in the derriere in previous years!

For those wondering , Aprils nominations thread will be posted on Tuesday or Wednesday, once this vote has been completed !

Meanwhile , we are still on 37 votes here, with less than a day left. Hoping there are a number to still come in, SC for example hasnt voted yet

Well, it is quite possible the votes have stopped here and the result is done - but we have 19 hours left to vote and you never know!

37 votes in so far, 5 players still have the votes, 4 men and 1 woman player.

See you in the morning

So we stick at 37 votes and around 11 hours left now. This may well be done, but lets see where the next 11 hours takes us.

Strangest voting pattern this poll has had, all the votes right at the start and not the usual dropping over the whole period of the vote!

Oh, that got things going with 3 votes taking us to 40, haha!

So going to give scores update:

20
8
7
3
2

Rest all zero.

Second is wide open if more votes come in so they will make a difference. And thanks to all who vote!

By the way, widespread internet outages today, it seems, although 4G is not an issue. Virgin is down nationwide apparently and others are also impacted

With 40 votes in, here is the actual running order:

Jodie is on 20
Billy - 8
George - 7
Liam - 3
Jan - 2

Field - 0

Billy moved ahead of George into second with this morning votes coming in. Remember, top 2 (Jodie dead set tbh) qualify for Player of the Season.

Most ever votes in a PoM poll - Nov/Dec 2022 with 45
Most ever votes in a PoS poll - 2022 with 46
Most ever votes in one of these polls - Most British Grass Court Wins (women) in grass court season 2022 - 58!!

Would be beautiful to top the 45 benchmark , let's see if there is time to do that

Closes 6.50 pm this evening
