That's a horrible draw - for both of them.

So the secret is out.  I messaged Beechy last night and he told me about the WC, but asked me not to say anything until the announcement was official

I will be down to support this week - whenever I can.

Possibly a match report (or 3) on the way.  Kyle's matches in Murcia were where I cut my teeth as a reporter LOL.

Liam seemed to be heading to Marbella Bob. Is that near there? Might he be training with them to get ready for next week when he is due in Split?

Saw about the Marbella trip but that is 5 hours drive away.  I assumed he had gone down to the Soto Academy for a training week.

Strange thing is, the last time I saw Kyle play in Murcia, (it was a futures then) he was pushing hard to get into the Top 500 (or 550, to be precise), as that was going to give him automatic entry into the French Open JUNIORS and eliminate the need for qualies.

Doesn't time fly.

Just to add, I can't get down tomorrow. Hoping Billy makes it past his doubles partner. Akira has a tendency to blow very hot or very cold, depending on his mood.

Kyle is quite possibly better on clay than hardcourts, at least his career allows you to argue a case for that

id forgotten his first career ATP title was Morocco (another event next week of course) and his first six futures titles were all on clay.

In his formative years, when Beechy was his coach first time around, there was a conscious decision by them both to focus on clay in an effort to improve his all round game.  It may have been before you joined the board Jon, but I think it was discussed on this forum. But at that stage of his career, he was definitely most comfortable on clay.

You will find it mentioned on this thread from 2013 - again the Murcia tournament

https://britishtennis.activeboard.com/t52675822/week-8-spain-f3-10000-murcia-clay/?page=1&sort=oldestFirst

I should add that having looked back at this thread, the posts don't seem to be in the correct order.  I seem to be answering questions before they were asked, and one of my match reports comes before the 'report to follow shortly' comments.  Not sure exactly what is going on.

Thanks Bob - really interesting reading - yea, I joined first of all around 2015 I think, left and came back, with a slightly changed persona!

With Billy and Kyle there , youve got what I think of as two of your three favourite players in one place !!

Billy lost the first set. On serve in the second. Only the one break of serve in the match so far.

3-6 4-3*
