Week 13 - ITF W60 - Croissy-Beaubourg, France Hard

Q1: CHRISTIE, Freya (GBR) (14) 462 (CH=286 2016) v MORDERGER, Yana (GER) 473 (CH=361 2022)

Q1: APPLETON, Emily (GBR) (16) 465 =CH v REGUER, Alyssa (FRA) WC 1225 (CH=1213 2023) {16yo JCH=824}

Q1: BROGAN, Anna (GBR) (7) 354 (CH=348 2022) v BELGRAVER, Julie (FRA) WC 537 (CH=482 2022)

The top two seeds are just below Eden in the list of acceptances so she should appear in the Main draw alongside Jodie and Katie B.

Never heard of Alyssa Reguer but that's got to look like nice sold points for Emily App

Julie Belgraver is the Dutch-French player who was/is very highly touted by the FFT but has not really risen to the hype. I think she's under-ranked though at 537.

And Freya kicks us off to a good start

Now for the other two to make it a full house (bit worried about Anna for that, though)

QR1: CHRISTIE, Freya (GBR) (14) 462 def. MORDERGER, Yana (GER) 473 3-6 6-3 6-2

Another new CH for Emily. 451 according to Coric (OER is unwell).

In general it's been some decent progress by Emily. Decent performances and points gathering in higher ITFs that still seem on the face of it largely doubles schedule related. Better than when she used to lose so much early in the main draws of W15s abd particularly W25s.

Maybe getting older abd having less attention from LTA bods has helped. And was it Sky she had sponsoring her for a while?

No need to worry about Anna - she won too 6-3, 6-4.  3 out of 3 is some small compensation for the 3 out of 3 losses in mens finals today.

Apologies to Anna

(And Jaggy, and other Anna fans)

Thrilled that I was worrying for nothing

All three through and points - that's a nice result

And the same result again - but it was very, very close

Freya staged an excellent comeback

But ended up just losing, 4-6, in the third

Emily has snuck the second set, and so is also into a third

But nice one for Emily

Q2: APPLETON, Emily (GBR) (16) 465 def. ROMEO, Caroline (FRA) 570 (CH=401 2016) 6-7(6) 6-4 6-4

That's a long, close match, against an opponent who's been around for quite a while.

Anna won her Q2 / FQR too by 6-3 7-6(0)

She was a break and SP down at 3-5* ( ad against ) in the second set but then won 21 of the last 28 points including the last 9

A shame for Emily to run into Katie in R1, although given the latter's poor result last week it could be closer than you might expect.

Emily's current problem is that she's caught between 2 stools.

In doubles she'ld need to win a 25K to make any progress. So she is playing 40K+ tournaments.

In singles she would only have to win a 25K first round match or a 15K SF.

51 of her 100 singles points are from last Novembers 25K at Loughborough. 13 more from the Glasgow 60K come off in late October.

On the plus side she drops few singles points until late October. In doubles none off until late June.

A dilemma, but a nice one to have as she will have a new singles CH this week around 450 and is near her doubles CH of 180.

Wish I was 23 again disbelief
