Yes, not as easy as you might expect, certainly not as easy as the bookies thought !

It was still a clear win and relatively 1/5 on wasn't that huge.

That was the other match - Em and Veronika were 1/33 on

Sugar, I thought I'd deleted all evidence in time!

Alexandra just beat the 6th seed 1 & 0

 Sonay wins 6-2 6-2

Yeh !

Really pleased with that

And a touch surprised too - I expected it to be closer.

Sonay was playing well, seemed to be within herself, kept to her gameplan, and Eala wasn't consistent enough to do anything about it

Good doubles this. Em and Veronica had the better of the early stages but twice couldn't convert 40-30* (3 well saved, one Em missed I feel). That has given Lissey and Liv the momentum and confidence, and they are pulling away (helped by a very fluky net cord return to get set point).

6-2 *0-0

That's Em and Veronica 0/7 on break points, Lissey and Liv playing them just so so solid.

2-1* second set.

Em and Veronica get the break, then get a set point at deuce courtesy of two ripper forehand return winners from Em (no idea where they came from!) But a good serve from Lissey saves it.

6-2 4-5*

A very poor game gives Lissey and Liv the break back, and they march to victory 6-2 7-5. Had to work hard for that, played well for the most part. Emily will feel disappointed not to have got that to a MTB as they had the momentum at 5-3 30-0* but played three poor points.

Lissey and Liv absolutely should be winning this title.

QF: KARTAL, Sonay (GBR) 262 (CH=195 2023) v SNIGUR, Daria (UKR) (4) 158 (CH=105 2022)
They met here last year with Sonay winning 4 & 2.

It was a good match. Em played very well, but Lissey''s power and Liv's speed and reactions made the difference in the end. 8 nett points for Liv and no gain for Em or Lissey (yet)

QF:- Alicia Barnett (GBR) / Olivia Nicholls (GBR) CR149 (71+78) [1] def Veronika Erjavec (SLO) / Emily Webley-Smith (GBR) CR362 (187+175) 6-2 7-5

SF:- Alicia Barnett (GBR) / Olivia Nicholls (GBR) CR149 (71+78) [1] v Alexandra Eala (PHI) / Justina Mikulskyte (LTU) CR766 (602+164)

Eala and Mikulkyte put out the #4 seeds in two tight sets.

Yes, very well done. I thought such a clear win might happen but I must admit I thought any such win would be against Sonay. On the face of it very encouraging.

Sonay narrowly lost the first set 7-4 in the breaker cry

And lost the second 6-3

Her crosscourt backhand was a nightmare towards the end there - she 'arms' it, so is very unbalanced and ends up not timing it properly and makes tons of UEs

But it was a decent score against a well-ranked player.....

From a break down in the first set of their SF, 3-4* ( 1 break to 2 ) Lissey & Liv have won 7 games in a row.

6-4 *4-0
