I have just come back from the other side of the pond, had to transit New York on way back on Saturday night. Have to say, they are the only ones I can recall asking for vaccine proof now and it seems to me that ship has sailed. Im not sure really now why it is a requirement any longer? My vaccine was the 4th one we all were asked to take from October and Im not sure it helps anyone that I have it any longer?

I was adamant Djokovic shouldnt get into AO last year, we obviously allowed him to play Wimbledon etc and it feels to me the USA needs to move forwards on this one. Dont see the reason to ban him from entry other than the law is what it is (and the law shouldnt be changed for one person) but in this case the law is out of date.

Not a Djokovic fan but this time the law is wrong and out of date .

It may be out of date but that is the rule and Djokovic should not get special treatment just because he can play tennis well.

i was in LA in January and neither you on your recent trip or I would have been allowed in without the vaccine certificate. So he has to face the consequences of the decisions he has made.

I wrote it clumsily but I think I wrote that I agree - they shouldnt change the law for one man or let him get around the law, but the law is wrong at this time ie the us is out of touch and shouldnt be banning people at this stage at all For not having the vaccine. IMO - just like the UK or Mainland Europe now, at least I believe.

Apologies I didnt mean to jump at you! I have just been a bit fed up with some of the press coverage suggesting he has been hard done to in some way. Tommy Haas quote saying it was a disgrace had just about finished me off!! Ranting over!

  no worries!

L96:  (Q) Leandro Riedi (SUI) WR 135 (CH = 127 in January) vs Jack Draper WR 56

That's the match which will determine Dan's opponent in tbe last 64 & it won't be a cakewalk for Jack.

Leandro was JWR 6, made the final of the French Open Juniors, never as good as Stricker (in my view, then or now) but is progressing steadily (although I think a lot of his points are from two Challenger wins last year)

This year Riedi has made a final of a challenger, FQR in AO, won a round in a 250 and qualified here in his only 4 tournaments. After winning two challengers to end last year definitely a player in form and on the up.

Ive kept an eye on him since seeing him beat Stuart Parker in the final of a M25 in Nottingham last spring.

Jack and him are starting now anyways.

JD is bossing this. He broke to go 2-1 up, backed that up with a love hold and has just broken for the 2nd time.  Jack leads 4-1.  I can only see one outcome here

Jack up *4-1. Riedi sure has an unusual technique on the forehand side. I thought I saw Jodie Burrage above the court lending a bit of support.

Really enjoyed watching Jack play that match. Solid display and he looks so fit and strong.

I had £20 on Jack, at reasonable odds, so cheers, Draper junior. Leandro is doing OK but he's nowhere near Jack's level

Really good to see Jack bossing it, as steve mcqueen said

I don't think it was Riedl's best day, but Jack really dufffed him up. It wasn't until the final dame that Reidl got into a JD service game (he was 15-30) but Jack served won the next three points.   Jack was very, very focussed. He played with controlled aggression throughout and made very few UEs, though I haven't looked at the stats.

On this performance, I make him favourite to beat Dan. I hope that match is scheduled at a sensible time!
