Oh, interesting.....

Will be really curious to see how Sofia does

She is 18, and was unknown to me, but obviously not to the LTA (not surprisingly ) and did well in some top junior events last year (great match against Mboko), and had that wildcard and played a super match against Leslie Kerkhove

Lot to like in her game....

Sofia and Bronte are/were?  both in colleges in the USA. Sofia is at Old Dominion, Bronte was at University of Missouri.

Well done, both

A win over a ranked player is especially pleasing (for Sofia)

For those who like that to follow families, Bronte Murgett is the older sister of Finn Murgett (who was playing a lot of ITFs etc in the UK last summer). I remember seeing Bronte play (at the NTC, I think), ages ago - she was really tiny but had a really nice sense of the court, lefty, volleys well, takes on the ball.....

Thanks for mentioning this - Sofia is indeed on the ODU roster and they are due to play VCU here in Richmond (the tennis center is half an hour's walk from home) on 9 April, so if I end up being still here and free that day, it sounds like a good excuse to go and have a first 'live' look at college tennis!

Doubles

Yuliia is also on the ODU roster - since 2017 and now in her senior year, playing No 1 in singles and No2 in doubles (ocasionally partnering Sofia).

Mercedes and Jade are on the TCU roster

R1: MURGETT, Bronte (GBR) Q UNR =CH v Yu, Eleana (USA) 695(CH=646 2023)

I can imagine a few conversations around Bronte's next opponent on the lines of:
Who are you playing next?
I'm playing Yu.
Your playing me?
No I'm playing Yu.
or
Who are you playing next?
That's not correct, you should say "who IS Yu playing next. Yu is playing me next."
Pardon?

That was an easy win - dipped in and out of a bit of that.

And that's a WTA dubs point for Sofia, yes?
