Week 2 - Australian Open - men's singles man draw (outdoor hard)

Some tasty ties there!

Cam and Dan will be happy; Andy and Kyle less so! Jack I reckon will fancy that match up with Rafa!

Yes, young Luca will be breakfast for Cam
And agree, that Rafa will not be best pleased....

I also fancy Draper for that tie. So much so that I'm going to put a fiver on it. The last time I bet on anything was KB to beat Guaff

A horrible draw for Draper but Nadal will hardly be cracking open the champagne .

Nadal might be seeded number 1 but I think thats somewhat inflated and Jack winning this match wouldnt be a massive shock .

Not sure its horrible for Jack, challenging yes but he will be well up for it. Id say he has a decent shout

When coming back from a long injury and with a limited number of PRs available, sometimes players need a bit of luck with the draw to kickstart their comeback.

Certainly not much luck with the draw for Kedders, who draws Jannik Sinner, for the 2nd time in 3 weeks.

Thanks for the clarification that the men"s singles is a man draw. Would it ever be a woman draw? winkbiggrin

Really looking forward to seeing Jack v Rafa. I think Rafa is usually pretty rusty in the early stages of Slams and Jack has the advantage of being able to get some tips on how to beat Rafa from Cam Norrie. I genuinely think he has a brilliant chance of winning. Bring it on!

I always feel when I see a match and predict an upset that it all goes wrong.
So I will leave it to somebody else to shout out what I am thinking right now about Jack's match.

Stu Fraser's report in yesterday's Times which records Cam Norrie's & Jack Draper's wins in Auckland & Adelaide & also Andy's in the Kooyong Classic exhibition event (in Melbourne & the home of the AO from 1972 to 1987, when it was still being played on grass) after a battle with Zhang Zhizhen (WR 97) as part of their preparations for the AO.

Stu Fraser's assessment of the Brits' chances of survival in the first round in today's Times.  Plenty of comment by Jack on the playing conditions.  wink
