Well, Emma can't have any complaints with that draw. No excuse really for not winning here, unless she shows up with that ankle not fully healed I suppose. But Korpatsch away from clay, she ought to do it in straights...

Tiebreak ongoing in Miyazaki/Vandeweghe

EDIT: Going to a third set. Miyazaki took the tiebreak 7-3. Really admire her zen-like demeanour on court, never really seems phased by anything.

I dislike Coco Van de W's politics. And her demeanour on court, having watched the Ella match
So especially upset that she got the upper hand in extremis over Lily (rather as she did over Ella)

I think what this shows is how well Harriet has done previously in GS qualifying, it isn't an easy route. Gutted for Lily, pretty much what happened against Garcia at Wimbledon.

Yeah given form and rankings to not get any of the girls through is a quite disappointing. Had expected Jodie to win today, though sounds like her opponent played a good match.

So close for Lily! Jodie probably won't get a better chance in qualifying either, will have to do it the hard way by breaking into the Top 100.

Half-decent draws for Harriet and Emma, particularly the latter if her ankle recovers in time.

Jodie has a half decent chance of making that top 100 and the French Open MD

She has relatively very little to defend before that entry list comes out in April. So head down and gather wins and ranking points in the coming months.

Whilst it is disappointing to see Jodie and Lily lose in the fqr, is this the firat time that either of them have gotten that far in Australia. Qualifying we know is very difficult just like the main draw. When you look at Jodie and see that a couple of years back she was outside the top 200 and nobody was even sure she would be where she is now I call it progress still. Is Indiana says, very little to defend so with the right schedule and results Jodie should certainly be aiming directly at the door of the top 100.
