2022 British Player of the Season Vote - Round One, Group D

The final of 4 Round One groups, 7 of 28 players.

Vote for the player of these that you feel is the Player of the Season - if you feel someone in another group is more deserving, don't worry - please still vote here and we will see as the field whittles down who is the overall player of the season. There are very thin margins:

Our seven players in Group D are summarised below. Rankings as of today (if inaccurate, please advise); Win Loss record taken from ITF site Sunday 4th December (again advise if you feel it is materially wrong); Tournie wins listed.

I haven't done any colour narrative such as age, or big individual wins or overcoming trauma etc etc. I will leave that to your views, these are just the facts. But if you have something you would like to add to support your player, please, please write it down in a post.

And, finally, please say who you vote for any why!!

RULES

Top 3 plus ties will progress to the semis.

Votes will close in 48 hours, ie 10pm Wednesday.

Players with zero votes will not be able to progress ie if only one or two players get a vote, then fewer than 3 players will progress to the next round

This feels like an interesting group to me - Group C may have been the group of death but this has lots of interesting players and a heavyweight or two for good measure.

Looking at it, Lloyd was someone I was tempted to vote for; I suspect Harriet's bio doesnt do her justice and she could have got my vote; but ultimately, I cant see past Jack D here.

Jack Draper is my choice for player of the year so I voted for him.

Another tough group to choose from. Jack looks to be the outstanding candidate here, having shot up the rankings and into the Nextgen finals. He's bound to pick up most votes here.
Lloyd has also had a good year, but I don't like him and won't vote for him on principle.
Harriet has stepped up to the main WTA tour (29 tournaments this year, only 3 at ITF level as warmups into bigger events), has made it into the top 100 and finished with two tremendous matche wins for GB.
OK, I'm biased, having been following Harriet sine she was a teenager.

Dart for a strong year on the WTA tour, and then a standout performance leading the GB team in the BJKCup Finals week.

11 votes only here but voting only been going for 90 mins!

Jack D has 5
Harriet and Emily have 2 each
Evo and Lloyd keep the Brummies fire going with 1 each.

A lot to unfold here, no doubt.

24 votes in this one - as it is 12 hours in and was overnight, not surprising it is a little behind the other voting groups. However, the others where slightly ahead numbers wise at the equivalent 12 hour mark.

But doing ok

Ella McDonald and Maia Lumsden have no votes yet in this group, here is a reminder of their records:

Maia was July PoM RU. She is WR 469, up from 577 a year ago and won 16-13 55%; Won 3 ITF titles in doubles incl ITF 60 level event within that, her first at that level

Has to be Jack. Those 4 challengers and his rise into the world's top 50.
