Unprovoked violence on women by women

I am shocked and appalled at the unprovoked attack on my daughter and her friend last night, by another woman.

So my daughter went with a friend  to a gig at Alexandra Palace, whilst waiting for the event to start she was shoved in the back by a woman so turned round and politely asked her to stop shoving. The woman said move out my way or Im taking you with me, so my daughter stepped  aside allowing the woman through and didnt see her again for the whole gig.

Later whilst leaving the event, my daughter was sent flying by a shove in the back, turned round to find it was the same woman who, had shoved her earlier.  The woman was huge (daughters friend is 5.11 and the woman was taller than her) and my daughter is only 5.4.

The woman started screaming that my daughter had been looking to pick a fight with her all evening. My daughter tried to diffuse the situation saying they were all fans just there to enjoy the music, but the woman spat on her and her friend and continued being verbally abusive.

The friend said we dont want any trouble and as they turned to walk away, the woman punched the friend in the back of the head.  As my daughter turned back to see what happened the woman punched her in the face. Blood everywhere. The woman tried to carry on punching her,  but a couple of men stepped in and held her back.

Long story short my daughter and her friend ended the evening with St Johns ambulance, the womans rings have cut her nose and the gash had to be glued, her nose is hugely swollen, clothes covered in blood (noses bleed a lot) and she is very, very shaken. Her friend seems to be OK apart from the shock of what happened.

They have reported the incident to the police, but unlikely the perpetrator will be found no

OMG. I am so sorry EP. What a horrible experience for your daughter and her friend. I have no words to describe my shock at what happened so how you must feel about it, I will never know. All I can do is wish your daughter a speedy recovery and I hope that the police do catch the perpetrator in the end. Hopefully CCTV will turn up something.

How awful for your daughter and friend, it's such a shock to hear of such events, but much worse for you and your family. I hope they get the help they need to recover from such trauma.

EP, that is so shocking. I can barely think what to write, it's just awful, terrible....

I wish your daughter, and her friend, all the very best; and you too.

Absolutely dreadful. So sorry to hear what happened. Wishing your daughter and her friend a speedy recovery from the physical injuries and mental trauma. And best wishes to you as a family as you support her.

Many sympaties.

These days people take TV as a guide to behaviour.

Hope they are both OK. confuse

I am so sorry for your daughter and her friend. To be both verbally and physically attacked is heart-rendingly awful.
Believe it or not, I had a bad experience in the Wimbledon queue in the 1990s. I had come down from Inverness to go to Wimbledon for the day with a friend, which we enjoyed. Next day she had to go back to work but I thought well I could use the afternoon to go to Wimbledon again and then catch a later train. So I packed up my stuff and joined the overnight queue. I was happy in my sleeping bag and camping mat and by 10pm was ready to try sleeping. The group next to me got louder and louder and couldn't accept that I was just a tennis fan on my own in the queue. They threatened to pour water over me unless I woke up and 'joined the fun'. There was a security queue guard patrolling every so often but he was laughing and joking with this group every time he came round so was useless in helping me. I can't remember how I survived the night. I just remember being picked on through no fault of my own.

Thank you all for your kind wishes and thoughts. I am trying not to over react and buy personal alarms, book her on a self defence course, insist she sticks to going to TSwizz concerts with her dad etc.

Security guards at the venue were hopeless, but hopefully the police will find the woman on CC TV - there cant have been that many women over 5ft11 at the venue - and if she used a card to pay for anything there, they maybe able to trace her.

Canda, how horrible to be picked on at Wimbledon, especially when you were alone. Seems there will always be a small fraction who dont think or care about how their behaviour impacts others.
