It should he Sunak but I suspect it may he Mordaunt and I've gone for it being her.

Maybe Ben Wallace if he went for it / was persuaded this time.

After the way he was treated last time, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Rishi Sunak declined to put himself forward this time. I really, really, hope that he doesn't.

... but if he does, then he should get the job.

Mordaunt is just another Truss. Ambitious but with no apparent expertise. The same goes for Braverman, whose transparently manufactured resignation was just ridiculous. God help the Conservatives if they choose either of Johnson or Gove, or even - heaven forfend - Rees-Mogg - but they are running out of choices. Is John Major still eligible?

Someone needs to remind Boris Johnson that .....

.... Leave means Leave.

Yes, Mordaunt would be a huge risk and fairly senseless after the Truss experience. But senseless seems to he the in-thing in the Consevative Party just now.

I posted my post on the wrong thread - but I've gone for Boris :::(((

Just to be clear, SO SO glad to be wrong biggrin

PS And what a nasty and divisive statement from Boris - almost certainly a lie (102 votes, really?) and most definitely one that ingites more infighting, rather than calms it down, the very opposite of being in the national interest which is what he was purporting his candidature would bring (although this wouldn't be the first time Boris has confused national interest with personal interest.....).

Apparently, Boris Johnson cut short his holiday in the Caribbean, flew back to the UK to participate in the leadership election, got the 100 nominations he required to move to phase 2, was then favourite among the Tory members to win that vote and then changed his mind and pulled out.

Anyone out there falling for that one ?

Yeah - I bought the winning Euromillions ticket on Friday too but I changed my mind and decided to bin it instead

The Pyshciatric Times journal wrote in 2014:

"Psychopathy is characterized by diagnostic features such as superficial charm, high intelligence, poor judgment and failure to learn from experience, pathological egocentricity and incapacity for love, lack of remorse or shame, impulsivity, grandiose sense of self-worth, pathological lying, manipulative behavior, poor self-control, promiscuous sexual behavior ......"

I've never seen a better description of Boris hmm

Penny has withdrawn, leaving Rishi as next PM

Congrats to him, as UK's first non-white PM

And good luck to him in getting the country back into some sort of shape

He will certainly need every bit of luck going. What a daunting job to take on.

In most places, candidates for a high level job are pre screened by HR, then interviewed by a panel  of their peers and often meet some of the people who would be their direct reports to determine their suitability for the job. Where I work, even the apprentices coming in with A levels have to undergo a rigorous selection  process, including spending 2 days of offsite interviews to find the best candidates.

And provide references from previous employers biggrin

Yes, but no-one with any sense would have a workforce comprised solely of elected employees. Especially when those employees were elected by people that (largely) knew absolutely nothing about the job that they were choosing candidates for. Which ever way you look at it, it is no way to run a railroad.
